BDO Gold Cup & Champions Cup 2018

Article on the BDO website about this - although the prize money hasn't changed in a while, the Gold Cup is one of the best funded BDO tournaments outside of the majors:

Gold Cup and Champions Cup 2018
This year's events will take place at the Magna Centre, Magna Way, Templeborough, Rotherham, S60 1FD. The closing date for Counties to put their qualifiers through is 15th June 2015.

The Gold Cup Singles registration starts at 8.30am on Saturday 30th June toe the oche at 10am for the floor matches. The stage matches will commence at approx 12 noon, tickets for spectators can be purchased on the door for £5. The winner of both the Men's and Ladies Gold Cups get a place in the Winmau World Masters and the World Pro play-offs in October. The prize fund on offer for the singles is £14,200 with the Men's winner picking up £4,000 and the Ladies £2,000.

The registration for the Gold Cup Pairs starts at 12 noon until 2pm, toe the oche at 3pm with the final scheduled for 6.30pm start and will conclude at 7.30pm. All players must be dressed uniformly with matching shirts and the same coloured trousers/skirts these have to be approved by the individual counties and are normally Super League or County uniforms. The prize fund for the Pairs is £6,900 and again the Champions of each event get a Winmau and World Pro ticket.

The Champions Cup takes place on Sunday 1st July 2018, registration is between 8.30am - 9.30am; toe the oche at 10am. All teams will take part in a round robin with the 8 winners from each section going through to the knock-out stages where the all teams involved at this stage will receive prize money.

Good stuff, a very difficult tournament to qualify for, let alone win.

Cant see that there will be many entries with the closing date being 3 years ago.

The 1983 and 1986 Gold Cup Champion, Bob Anderson,has qualified for the 2018 Gold Cup via the West of England SuperLeague.

Yes, he was 70 in November! Still hits good averages in SuperLeague, and a 10 handicap golfer!
