Can you show me anywhere on this thread where someone has said they shouldn't be paid?Paddy McGinty wrote:Whoever runs the BDO should have some form of renumeration, no one seems to worry about the amount other personnel are paid in other orgs........but hey ho it's the BDO, please join in on the free for all......everyone welcome or so it would seem.
Most of us are saying we need a professional and need to pay them handsomely.
Paddy that chip on your shoulder doesn't suit you.

I think that is possibly a big part of the BDO's problems they have been basically bankrolling the wrong people rather than it being a case of them not willing to spend out to employ someone.nikkiboy wrote:

To be absolutely honest i’d Say Barry Hearn has earned more from darts than the top 16 put together.

No different from a lot of other sports where one person runs it, Bernie Ecclestone made at least a billion from F1, roger goodell earns about $44 million a year running the nfl, far more than any player.Maverick wrote:el_ringo wrote:When the person in charge earns more from the body than most of those ranked in the top 16 something has to be wrongPaddy McGinty wrote:Whoever runs the BDO should have some form of renumeration, no one seems to worry about the amount other personnel are paid in other orgs........but hey ho it's the BDO, please join in on the free for all......everyone welcome or so it would seem.

The BDO should use the money they spunk up against the wall every year on the WDT and get an actual business person in to run it before it’s too late.
Does the BDO give the counties a full breakdown of expenses claimed by each board member? Would be interesting to see how much the Williams duo actually claim each year compared to the rest of the board.

Well Barry Hearn runs pdc darts, takes a big salary, grows the sport, signs better tv deals. The players make much more money than they did before. I think you can compare the job he does to any other sport.ChrisW wrote:Darts compared to F1 and NFL now.TheSandman wrote:No different from a lot of other sports where one person runs it, Bernie Ecclestone made at least a billion from F1, roger goodell earns about $44 million a year running the nfl, far more than any player.Maverick wrote:el_ringo wrote:When the person in charge earns more from the body than most of those ranked in the top 16 something has to be wrongPaddy McGinty wrote:Whoever runs the BDO should have some form of renumeration, no one seems to worry about the amount other personnel are paid in other orgs........but hey ho it's the BDO, please join in on the free for all......everyone welcome or so it would seem.

If you think f1 or nfl is a bad comparison then compare it to the BDO on the past 7/8 years.
What has sue Williams done for the BDO? Besides pissing anyway shitloads of money and the bbc tv deal.

Well said. It was a perfectly valid comparison.

Pretty sour. So darts is exactly like F1. My apologies.TheSandman wrote:Well Barry Hearn runs pdc darts, takes a big salary, grows the sport, signs better tv deals. Looks like Des will lose out, well done to the Welsh and Scots for seeing sense.
Des Jacklin will not be chairman of the BDO, You can take that to the bank!

Given that he came on this forum, abusing and threatening our members, why would anyone think he is worthy of occupying a senior position in any organisation. Especially one which is going down the shitter, due to an inability to promote, and attract sponsorship for their events.

If Des had to sign a NDA to become a director how did he get around calling the EGM and revealing all the info to the counties? surely he was in breach of his NDA by doing so?London Eye wrote:Pauly waking up and smelling the coffee.London Eye wrote:Am hearing that Des's rival for the chairmans role now has enough counties pledging their support for him to beat Des in a ballot at the AGM. Also If the counties vote Des out and decide he shouldn't be running the BDO who exactly is going to be the alternative? Sue and Wayne obviously dont want it any more (well not in name, I bet Sue would like her place on the board). Unless they are going to find a scapegoat to figurehead the board whilst Sue and Wayne carry on behind the scenes all voting Des out is going to do put another nail in the coffin.
The bdo without an actual board past August means no TV deals, no venues sorted and basically no 2019 tour.
