A cross code event? PDC ladies Vs BDO ladies? Who would be in it? Who would run it? Who would televise it? Who would pay to watch it? Would it be great?

She just wants a ladies group stage event, I would guess.

Luckily for her, one already exists.

Hearing that there at credible rumours that the pdc are looking at trying again with ladies darts (not just the wc slots).

I hope so as I'm sure it would be easy to bolt on a tour on Pro Tour Weekends. With fields of 128 they are quite managable weekends and there is scope to stick on two extra events - FRiday eve and maybe Sunday morning. Ive said this before and it just so easy and low cost for PDC to bolt this on, even with a bit of decent prize money.

Guess Paul won't!

Q. Also do you think that the PDC/BDO should look at potentially adding ladies such as yourself who are current major champions into the Grand Slam of Darts?

A. I would love to play in the grand slam, I also think a lot of fans would like to see some ladies play in it. Maybe they could have a ladies grand slam wouldn’t that be great.

PDC could tie up the women's game easily:

Tour - Pro tour Bolt-on
1 x Grand Slam place
2 x WC place
1 x 'Matchplay' women only major (probably not call it a WC if they are invited to the main WC). Unlikely to be on TV but could be streamed.

Job done.

He will probably just start a discussion taking the piss out of you spelling "something" wrong, instead :WWWW: :WWWW:

Then again I would be disappointed if the Official TSoD Discussion FB Page don't discuss this news.

What about a ladies only comp (call it what you like) that could be run in the daytime (afternoons) at the wintergardens (when the matchplay is on) say from Tuesday to Thursday. Offer cut price tickets, say £10. A lot of folk in Blackpool. A lot of darts fans there. would they shift some? I think possibly.

Building already set up. Stream it.

have the ladies final before the men's on a Sunday night. What an incentive for the ladies.

Any thoughts?

Only the top 8 of the ladies is actually worth televising and sometimes that could be cut to the top 4 (semis & final).
The benefit that the PDC has is that they can easily attract extra sponsorship for the ladies games but it all comes down to how they market it and how serious they are about ladies darts. If as we suspect they are attempting to become the governing body of the sport then they have to pay attention to ladies darts.

Personally

Ladies tour bolted on to challenge tour. Ladies can do both if they wish

Top 2 ladies get tour card, number 1 gets a world championship spot along side 2 qualifiers

Top 8 get free entry to qschool

Any women in the pro tour can do the ladies tour so long as they are not in the top 64 ( same as development tour)

Give them a grand slam place and give them a major tournament alongside another event.

Give them a Euro tour event

Job done

How many credible players would actually be playing such events? The PDC getting involved with women's darts wouldn't change the fact that there's little depth to speak of in the women's game, and a lot of the depth that does exist consists of players who won't travel much.

And then there's the inevitable whining if the PDC did run women's events alongside the Pro Tour tournaments and asked them to pay entry fees while the men get to play the same weekends for free... For that reason alone it's probably better to put women's tournaments on the Challenge Tour schedule instead.

It's actually been top 32 for the last several years already.

What happened to the old Ladies darts should not be near TV?

It shouldn't. But organisations have to be seen to be non discriminatory. Look at BBC and Sky at pains to add on female pundits to the football comms even if they have little personality? This move will not make a lot of money but it will impact whats left of BDO. Win Win for PDC

Nothing. The odd woman in the WC or GSOD is enough
