World Championship Women's Qualifiers Nov 17 & 25
THE two Women's Qualifiers for the William Hill World Darts Championship have been confirmed for Dusseldorf and Milton Keynes and will take place in November.
Two places for female players will be on offer in the 2018/2019 World Championship at Alexandra Palace in London, following the tournament's recent expansion.
Gayl King and Anastasia Dobromyslova have previously competed in the World Championship, while Deta Hedman competed regularly on the PDC circuit and, more recently, Lakeside Champion Lisa Ashton has played on the PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour.
A Rest of the World Qualifier - for players from outside the UK & Ireland - will take place on Saturday November 17 at Dusseldorf's Maritim Hotel.
The UK & Ireland Qualifier will be held on Sunday November 25 at Arena MK in Milton Keynes.
Both qualifiers will be FREE to enter and will be open to any female player aged 16 or over. Entry is based on citizenship as outlined in PDC Rule 7.6.

sensible time and location.
Open draw, could be brutal. Only way they could do it really. With only one to go through shouldn't matter too much

UK Ladies one only clashes with the Cat C Italian Open - the main event (Italian grand Masters) is a Cat B and the day before.
Rest Of The World one clashes with the Czech Open.
No excuse for the top UK women not to enter, imo. Free entry as well.

Don't you just hate him! Only bothered about the top 32/16 players!nikkiboy wrote:Barry Hearn is ruining darts.......
On a serious note: I am sure he doesn't do thinks as an act of kindness. He has a plan. He sees the bigger picture.
surely this is a 'test' that if the ladies 'pass the test' is going to lead to something more for the ladies?

What do you think a about it being unseeded? Is it irrelevant in the context of these events?Bag Carrier wrote:Any women that does not give it a go would be crazy.

It would be weird to use a ranking from a different system to make seeds.devosteve wrote:What do you think a about it being unseeded? Is it irrelevant in the context of these events?Bag Carrier wrote:Any women that does not give it a go would be crazy.

Only the winner of the event gets a World Championship ticket, so it doesnt really matter if there are no seeds.

Nope because you have to beat everyone else anyway. You'll still get people moaning though.PreciesJJ wrote:Only the winner of the event gets a World Championship ticket, so it doesnt really matter if there are no seeds.

Hopefully it's first to 6, anything shorter wouldn't fit a WC qualifier I think. The ladies almost never play matches that long though so it'd be a big test.phil davies wrote:What’s the format for this as if it’s first to 6 throughout they are going to be in for a long day.
Also depends on the entries, how many do we think they'll get? Around the 64 mark maybe?
Re: World Championship Women's Qualifiers Nov 17 & 25
Nah I reckon it'll be well over 100 at the UK and not far off that for the World one. Milton Keynes is a shithole but has good transport links and is reasonably easy to get to for most, loads of hotels as well.26scored wrote:Hopefully it's first to 6, anything shorter wouldn't fit a WC qualifier I think. The ladies have to look at it as an open with a minimum of £7,500 for winning as that is the first round losers cheque for the WC.
Has to be a good pay day for one day's event.

Who'd have a tenner on a certain UK lady entering this Open and the BDO mysteriously giving the Italians enough money to make it a Cat A+Ginge wrote:UK Ladies one only clashes with the Cat C Italian Open.

PDC Europe website says: Es wird im Einfach-KO-System ohne Setzliste gespielt, das Spielformat ist abhängig von der Teilnehmerzahl.phil davies wrote:What’s the format for this as if it’s first to 6 throughout they are going to be in for a long day.
Format depends on number of entries.

you will always get some people finding an excuse.markymark wrote:One Fanatic moaning it clashes with the Czech Open. You can't make this stuff up.
This to me is a no brainer.
Some of these women travel all year for a place at Lakeside or a place in the Playoffs costing them thousands.
here they are "BEING GIVEN" the chance to earn minimum £7k for free and some still find fault with it. That £7k in reality will be turned into another £10/£20/£30k with sponsors, Demo's, Appearances and media duties if they have the right people behind them.
I already have a feeling a few women wont go, to show there loyalty to the BDO and the New Chairman, Also the chance to go to the events they clash with and nick a few quid and some ranking points in depleted fields.
If the women don't back these events this time, I feel its GAME OVER for Ladies darts as the is the one time they can make a difference with there feet and attend the event. Who knows if there is 64-100 people present at the qualifiers, There may well be a few tour dates thrown in for next year.

I imagine both Italian and Czech will suffer with entries.
Italian Masters had 53 ladies last year. Deta won it.
Czech Open had 136 ladies.
