Dropping the women’s seeds from 8 to 4 2 days ago and not even telling them. Bearing in mind the seed cut of date is 9th September.

We only found out by looking on Winmau a website.

The reason given is comical. Apparently Winmau didn’t even know.

Old board still running the new board. Hmmmmm

Last year 8 were seeded, all exempt until the Last 16.

So this year will be 4 seeded, all exempt until the Quarter Finals?

I could have just looked here:

http://www.winmau.com/news/3238/Race_to ... Confirmed/

So yes, 4 women parachuted into the Last 8. Last year only the QF onwards were on the stage meaning the exempt players still had to play a floor match first, so this gets rid of the exempt players having to play a floor game.

Exactly, And the BDO have not eve told the players this.

We only found out through looking at the press release.

Aye looks like the 2018 plan is to revert back to the 2016 format. If they want to do that, fine, the notice of them doing it clearly isnt acceptable, and the fact the notice hasnt even come from the BDO....

4.02 WOMEN’S SEEDING CRITERIA
a. A number of Women qualifiers as determined by the BDO Board of Directors will be seeded
Dated 3rd July this year.

Very vague. Doesnt even say a number. Same applies for the men on there, too.

Nope. Wont even have been in the top 8.
Position Player Points
1 Lorraine Winstanley (England) 430
2 Deta Hedman (England) 422
3 Aileen de Graaf (Netherlands) 410
4 Lisa Ashton (England) 396
--------------------
5 Anastasia Dobromyslova (Russia) 384
6 Fallon Sherrock (England) 382
7 Sharon Prins (Netherlands) 328
8 Corrine Hammond (Australia) 297
-----------------------------------
9 Trina Gulliver MBE (England) 281
10 Paula Jacklin (England) 256
I can see why Spud is annoyed. 12 points to make up before the 9th September on Ashton wont be easy in the slightest, although the above doesnt remove points being defended between now and then...

EDIT - tried to remove points to be defended:

2 Deta Hedman (England) 398
3 Aileen de Graaf (Netherlands) 396
4 Lisa Ashton (England) 396
--------------------
5 Anastasia Dobromyslova (Russia) 384

Still has 12 points to make up but much closer to two other players.

To me its not about Ana, Its the whole situation. This affects 4/5 ladies that have travelled for 12 months and are then still not even officially notified by the BDO that they are halving the seeded places.

Winmau the title sponsors were not even aware of the change until this wee, Hence why they changed thins rom the post on 13th august

I'm sure Pauly will be using this example as one of his tests of the new regime's commitment to transparency over on his Facebook group.

They will be chucked in at the start along with everyone else, they are just going back to how they did it in 2016.

Apparently the reason they are doing it is "embarrassing" according to Spud, so cant be on the orders of TV and he said the sponsor knew nothing about it despite it being on their own website....
