Durrant's averages by the way are:
99.62, 98.01, 101.99, 98.70, 99.68

And finally got the updates on the other matches in total 4 100+ averages in the QFs.
Updated in the post two above.

Maybe playing week in week out against real opposition and more often on TV will help him or maybe after this it will reaffirm his plan to be BDO for life.

Gary Anderson the same - won hardly anything in the BDO then moved to the PDC and has won all their majors !!!

Who cares? We know who won and was runner up etc so WTF does the tournament average matter? Did they print it on the trophy? Do they pay out more money if the average for the tournament is higher?

This ^^^^^^^

Also Oche has no way of knowing what his average was in the early rounds, so it's pure guesswork from him as usual. :D

ADAM Smith-Neale, the unseeded outsider in the weekends proceedings, played a blinding game against the current World number one, Glen Durrant in tonight’s World Master’s final to take the title 6-4.

Durrant broke early to lead 2 sets to nil, but Smith-Neale won against the Duzza throw in the third with a cool 80 checkout and held his throw in the fourth to draw even. With each set going with the darts, the score was soon 4-4 in sets, but an early break by Smith-Neale saw him throwing for the set against the darts in the ninth. A timely 13 darter by Smith-Neale saw him take the lead for the first time in the match.

At 5-4, missed doubles Durrant cost him the chance of a deciding leg, however Smith-Neale kept his nerve and saw out the match winning 6-4. Duzza registered a 33.07 average, with Smith-Neale winning with a 32.16.

Fantastic achievement by Smith-Neale and great to see someone winning the Masters the historically proper way by playing every round, for the 2nd consecutive year. :DDDD:

It was a good final to watch and a good standard, the stream wasn't bad either. I missed the first 3 sets of the final because I was out but watched the rest. ASN well deserved winner.

However, only 3k or so watching the stream for the final and few dozen at Brid itself doesn't exactly inspire confidence for the world champs, especially when nothing has been set in concrete for that. If things continue as they are then the prize funds for the BDO majors will have to be reduced by significant amount, surely it's not sustainable?

Is this win not good for BDO side of darts as it shows the same as last year that “Anyone can win” if they play there game.

I personally thinks it’s good for the game.

The darters did their bit, no question about that.

Now it's for the powers that be to do theirs - not leave it to the last minute, get things sorted well in advance and promote it well.

This is maybe what will be the saviour of the BDO. Showing players who are playing the CT and DEV tour that there is a chance to make big money and progress to a World Championship.

Not really big money in terms of darts though and with no winmau next year it’s going to be even less.

All this shows is what everyone already knew, that the bdo numbers of top players in dwindling by the months.

We used to wonder how many of the top bdo would make the top 16, you wonder now how many of them would even get tour cards

Although he played good darts, at this point in time, this is NOT good for the BDO, you can't approach a TV company for your World Championship saying that your latest major winner is a secondary tour PDC player rather than someone average Joe may of heard of, like Adams, Hankey or Fordham, who still play within the system (none of which qualified)

Fitton and Walton both failed to get tour cards. Hamilton lost his but qualified for Whereverside after playing only half the BDO season, PDC number 165 wins The Masters beating the top 3 in the BDO on the way, Draw your own conclusions.

Smith-Neale averaged 81 in his last Challenge Tour and hasn’t really averaged 90 in them

He has had a fantastic week and if Durrant won you would have moan. You still moaning about ASN winning

It’s accepted that BDO is a secondary org. But it produced 100 averages. Durrant average 99 for the Tournament Let’s highlight his achievement without going into PDC & BDO
