Wouldn’t surprise me if Des has forgotten to sort this out with minds focused on the mess that is Lakeside and of course the Turkish Open and Vicayza Open.

Starting to think Des will have a short stint in the leadership of the BDO.

Hes forgotten to sort Lakeside out as well by the looks, given we are nearly in the middle of September and nothing has been said.

Has to be that the prize fund has been severely cut then and they are only paying out to the 1/4 finals.
A very interesting theory. I think we may have a winner.
If only they had paid out to last 16 previously in the last 10 years then the theory would hold water...
Last 16 ladies haven't got anything in that long?

Fair enough. I'm stumped then as to this "embarassing" reason.
He said comical not embarrassing and eluded to the old board running the new board

Did the comical / embarrassing reason ever come out?

Think it must have been they cut the seeded places for TV, and then no TV came long.

Premier sports still an option, they've picked up a few subscribers due to pro14 rugby

You have to consider what else the station is already showing that weekend.

Well yes but maybe a double deal with lakeside could sway them, they have three channels including freesports.

Reading this with interest...and wondering exactly where the previous board left the the two majors.
I agree with ginge, if it's premier/Freeport's then that will probably be the last we see of it ...
Because paying for it to be broadcast, means it will be done to a budget...probably a low budget...which then will lose any selling ability it has (due to quality)..it can't stand on its own feet anymore, it needs a decent production.
Although, I thought the year the winmau switched to lakeside, the production was good, and using empty space as the studio, covered the empty spaces..
Fingers crossed Des gets things sorted...but tbh it's getting late in the day to allow for decent ticket sales..

Surprised no one has posted the Pro 14 rugby union Premier Sports and Freesports are committed to the Masters weekend, which rules them out unless the BDO agree to some very wierd timings for the TV stage games.

They would really have to play darts in afternoons finishing early evening at latest, so that would really decimate the potential TV audience.

Remember Premier Sports now have 2 channels on Sky and Virgin plus Freesports.
The rugby that weekend is
ROUND 6

Friday, October 5 (all kick-off times are local)

19:35 Edinburgh Rugby v Toyota Cheetahs, BT Murrayfield
Live on Free Sports & Super Sport

19:35 Glasgow Warriors v Zebre Rugby, Scotstoun Stadium
Live on Premier Sports

19:35 Ulster Rugby v Connacht Rugby, Kingspan Stadium
Live on Premier Sports & eir sport

Saturday, October 6 (all kick-off times are local)

15:00 Scarlets v Ospreys Rugby, Parc y Scarlets
Live on Premier Sports & eir sport

17:15 Dragons v Cardiff Blues, Rodney Parade
Live on Premier Sports and eir sport

18:00 Leinster Rugby v Munster Rugby, Aviva Stadium
Live on eir sport and Premier Sports

20:00 Benetton Rugby v Southern Kings, Stadio Monigo
Live on Free Sports & Super Sport

No chance they are going to bump that rugby off. This isn't Frontrunner we are talking about, who buggered up their Freeview channel the weekend of last years WDT so that nobody who watched the channel via that medium could see the live motor racing they had been building up to for weeks.

Ginge is right. They've spent a lot of time promoting themselves as the home of the Pro14, nothing will shift that.
