Has “the meeting” happened today.
Re: RE: Re: Lakeside dates and BDO 2019 calendar
Seems it actually happened Friday. Venue saying they still can't confirm anything, so read into that what you will. The Jolly Man wrote:Has “the meeting” happened today.

This must all be about Potter and how much he will stump up without a major broadcaster. Maybe they are hanging it out, hoping he will cave in and weigh in with the readies.
This could get very expensive for the new board.
Not to mention embarrassing.

Potter simply will not pay as much if not on major tv. Some if us have said it along whilst others on here think that just because it fills bars and rooms that he will pay the same. But there is no chance, he's a business man.
The post above even hints at it not being at Lakeside. That would be bat shit crazy. But is feasible if the board can get the same prize money as last year at a different venue. Personally I would still stay at Lakeside this year. Selling tickets this late for a new venue would be a real struggle.

Same prize money at a different venue suggests another big money sponsor, no sensible sponsor would do this if it isn't on a decent TV station.Skewball wrote:100%BlueSpark wrote:This must all be about Potter and how much he will stump up without a major broadcaster. They've already effectively made the players contracts meaningless by rescinding the penalties of going to Q School, in an attempt to deflect away from the promise of the same money as last year.

Re: Lakeside dates and BDO 2019 calendar
The best thing the BDO could do now, if they are keen or have to move from Lakeside soon, is to hold it at Lakeside this year whatever the prize money or sponsorship, but make a massive deal about it being the last one at Lakeside. That would make it a big PR deal for tickets, and God forbid a bit of late TV coverage. It is not unusual for venues to change so make the best of it and big it up - Your last ever chance to see the Worlds at Lakeside. I would go myself
They should then announce Preston or whatever asap for 2020 (and dates) to give it plenty of chance of selling tickets.

Re: Lakeside dates and BDO 2019 calendar
way I see it is if Bob Potter only stumps up half, the bdo can stump up the other half, but that would only be a temporary fix, its simply not sustainable, especially with ticket sales in the bdo at an all time low and losing money year on year.
