Look what’s happened to Gilding since. Bombed out the PCF & failed to qualify for Ally Pally
right on oche - he outscored the two pdc pl players he played 9 legs to 7 - he beat mcgeeny and veenstra this weekend - both are gurney level - didnt see mvg handle gurney at the itv money major last week - ill miss glenn is he switches - hes the best all round shooter in the game - but the bdo always has someone waiting in the wings - mitchell would be my bet - but dont forget the bdo youth movement - veenstra unchburner and mckintry - who know maybe one of them will become the next glenn or adams -

robson
37, 30 and 32.

Can 37 really be classed as a youth shooter??
remember when Mark McGeeney was called a youth player ?
He was in his 40s at the time.

Might be time to update the conveyor belt pic again

Dicie asked what young hopes the BDO had, and someone answered with "Mark McGeeney". So there you are.

Dicie once said Rob Cross won't get near the top 32. :)

You need to re-read my post again. Cant remember who claimed McGeeney to be a "young" player but it certainly wasnt Dicie.

With the bdo being a lower level, and all their experienced players gone to the pdc and a lot of them failing, it would not surprise me if the bdo top 16 had more younger players seeing as the competition is so weak and the travel club of fitton, o shea, adams etc are beginning to realize they simply are not good enough.

Ignoring your trolling for a minute, that's always been a Big ask in 40 years of pro darts.
Very tough for young players to get to the top 16 that young. MVG , Adrian Lewis were two exceptions. Even Taylor was no where near it until he was 30. Look how long it took Wolfie - he was over 40 (and it took the existing top 16 to all leave, but that's another debate!)

Think "young" in darts terms is under 30, tbf. Certainly not McGeeney, who was aged 44 at the time someone claimed he was a "young hope".

look at the "young players" that won lakeside

Mark Webster
Jelle Klaasen
Stephen Bunting
Chritian Kist.....they all hooked it to the pdc

look at the old players that hung around like a bad smell, waites, adams etc...they spent the weekend averaging about 80

Is it any wonder anyone with half a game and commitment could rise up their rankings in the bdo
Wes Newton and Andy Hamilton even made lakeside ffs......

outside of lewis and MVG there was others, wade being a prime example who was 24 abd had won the matchplay and grand prix
