Big win for Daniel Day - is that his first ranking title? Certainly very very happy when he won!

And look also at the amount of players that played in the events here.
Lots of other events apart from the Stage 3 event.
World under 22 championships today

OK, a bit slow on the uptake, but this is what I don't get about these sort of events...
Why has the men's singles got around 200 entries, but the equivalent N&B event gets about a third of this, with more prize money on offer.
I assume its because there is more than the 2 events across a weekend, but I'd like to think if there was ever PDC-WDF integration, the organisation would tap into these numbers.

Re: Swedish Open & Classic 24-26 Aug 2018, Stockholm.
Then again Swedish and Danish Open didnt have any male players from Finland but ofcourse had them in the PDCNB verions in same countries
Re: Swedish Open & Classic 24-26 Aug 2018, Stockholm.
Could be good point on how likely a player thinks the money will be split so the likelihood of winning anything.
So how does the split go down by round in the Swedish PDC and BDO events.
Most PDC prize funds are very top heavy so a much higher proportion to the winner, so if the BDO spread the money more fairly it attracts the lower level players. Therefore unless you think you are in the top 16 or so for Nordics you aren’t going to do the PDC events. It comes down to they need a PDC main tour and challenge tour in Nordics as in UK.
One final point is why is this thread titled Stockholm when it’s held on the outskirts of Malmö so hundreds of kilometres away and only a few from Denmark. Being there does it attract over the Danish players from Copenhagen. Obviously makes the travel much simpler as many more British flights to Copenhagen than Stockholm.

55 of yesterday's field in the men's singles came from outside Scandinavia. So really only 138 were 'locals'.Dannyboy wrote:OK, a bit slow on the uptake, but this is what I don't get about these sort of events...

So, still treble the locals than the N&B version.
In regards to prize funds, they're hardly top heavy. Certainly less so than BDO events. Am I right in thinking that the N&B tournaments payout down to the L32? So potentially only having to win 1 match to take home 50 EUR.

Pro Tour events each have a prize fund of €5,000, split as follows:
16 x 50 euro = 800 euro Last 32
8 x 125 euro = 1,000 euro Last 16
4 x 200 euro = 800 euro Q F
2 x 300 euro = 600 euro S F
1 x 600 euro = 600 euro Runner-up
1 x 1,200 euro = 1,200 euro Winner

How many of the locals were Swedish and how many were from elsewhere in the Nordic region? Your answer probably lies somewhere around that local swedes will go to the Swedish event but not to Finland etc but lots of fins will play in Finland but not travel to Denmark. The PDC events f or many is a big outlay if you are playing for fun etc.Dannyboy wrote:So, still treble the locals than the N&B version.

I’m sure The Master or another local to the region has said the attitude in the region and certainly Finland is that Darts is purely a hobby you do in your spare time and is certainly not something you over exert your self over
