Don’t think this has changed anything other than bdo players can go to qschool and come back if they don’t qualify, which is a good idea for the bdo.

To sign a contract with the pdc you can’t play an event from another organisation that is streamed and you can’t qualify for another world championship.

So tour card holders can’t do anything new this is to try and get challenge tour players to play bdo and then pick their route at the end of each season.

Suppose it’s as close to a unified field we are ever going to see

Also the cynic in me says the bdo are doing this to make lakeside contracts null and void which means they don’t have to keep to their promise of having the same prize fund

What it does mean is yet another excuse not to do Q School has vanished. The cost of the entry fees argument vanished earlier this year, and now this.

Scott has always got his self-imposed "two hour tractor ride from Dorset" rule to fall back on.

Wonder what Ross makes of all this?

Interesting but what will it mean in practice.
Does it mean more top BDO players taking a chance on QS and BDO players playing both their tournaments and the Challenge Tour?

Scotty Dog has never had any problem with making it to the Matchroom Fishing Event the past few years !
Ross Theboss Montgomery PDPA have rules in place preventing players from playing in other live events out-with the PDC
He is quite right of course but I didn't think a Challenge Tour player was covered by this restriction ?

MancheStar wrote:PRESS RELEASE: BDO announce a lift on players restrictions
The BDO is set to remove all restrictions on PDC Tour Card holders as previously and currently placed upon them.
In a complete and radical U-turn, the new BDO Chairman/CEO Derek Jacklin and the current BDO Board of Directors have passed a resolution to remove the historic restrictions as placed on PDC players.
PAYMENTS NOW BEING TAKEN FOR TURKEY!!!!!! PLACES GOING FAST!!!!!! PAYMENTS IN EUROS PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Mr Jacklin’s fresh approach is indicative of his declared intent to overhaul the current system and make positive changes for the better from within the organisation.
These changes will also demonstrate that players will no longer face any penalties relating to entry and participation at the PDC Q-School.
RULE 4.00 WILL NOW READ AS FOLLOWS
4.00 ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN QUALIFYING EVENTS
4.01 Conditions of participation in Qualifying Events
In order to participate in a Qualifying Event, a player;
a. Must be a member of the BDO or another member darts body of the World Darts Federation a list of which may be found at: Full and Associate Member BDO Darts Bodies
b. Must not be serving a period of ineligibility imposed by the BDO, the World Darts Federation or any member darts body of the World Darts Federation.
This decision will also serve to ensure that any women looking to enter the upcoming qualifiers into the Ladies Play Offs in the PDC World Championship will be free to participate without affecting their position within the BDO system and would take with them the BDO’s best wishes for success.
Mr Jacklin feels that this is now ‘the right time’ to implement these changes, putting further emphasis on the BDO’s ‘Darts For All’ ethos.
The new rule change will be applied equally across the Men’s and Ladies game and will come into effect on 1st October 2018.

Derek Jacklin
Chairman / CEO BDO
Des, you missed a bit out of your press release.
I've added it for you.
Always happy to help.

Challenge tour doesn’t as the likes of Tony o are doing both at the minute.

Like oche says it’s great news for the bdo in theory, anyone scared of doing qschool doesn’t have to do a big leap any more they know they can go back to bdo opens if they fail and anyone doing challenge tour can do both which means bdo opens could have more entries.

But I guarantee the minute someone is in a bdo event knocking out a old face the fanatics are going to be complaining.

Do you think the regular PDC QSchoolers will be complaining now the floodgates are opened?

What a pointless rambling announcement. May have just said that anyone not good enough to have a tour card can play BDO events, but hang on, they can already except for a couple of players who signed Lakeside contracts. The 128 tour card holders are prevent by their PDC contracts from playing in non PDC televised or streamed events so they are not affected. So what's the point of this announcement. What's changed?

It means all BDO players can have a crack at Q School without fear of failing.
It also means in Europe there will be a lot of complications
