Well Unterbuchner, Harms and Mitchell are still there for certain. After that who knows but nobody who would make much impact.

In reality some of the ones at QS will fail so maybe theres another 2 or 3 there. Will be interesting week.

If all of the top players got tour cards, what's the best possible 8 after that?
They still havent updated the rankings post-Lakeside but the current top 16 is...

Durrant
McGeeney
Williams
Harms
Veenstra
Mitchell
Unty
Robson

Waites
Warren
Landman
Parletti

Telnekes
Day
Baker
Mandigers

Take out the ones who have entered Q School and they all win a card (in red), and you are left with the ones in blue as your top 8
Looks grand to me. If it was right now, I'd take out Jobbo, Landman and Parletti, and give Telnekes, Baker and Mandigers the spots. Those 8 can easily complete with most of the PDC lot.

If I was completely changing it id like to see it more follow the rules of the old masters where you have to win something to be in a shout.

Winners of major events, Euro tour event and pro tour events making up the 24 on the PDC side, nobody getting in by a ranking position and if you go through every PDC tournament and you dont have 24 invite the runners up of the best tournaments.

Lakeside winner, WDT winner and Masters winner - runner ups if multiples are made.

Lakeside ladies winner

Best youth player - Open qualifier for anyone under 21

Then a qualifier for anyone that has won any other tournament recognized by either organization in the last year- Any cat A B C, Challenge tour, Development tour, ladies event, JDC event and 3 places go to that.

So all 32 are tournament winners from the last year and nobody is just picked to be at the event.

Haven't really thought this through, but something like 4 BDO, 8 international (1 representative from each continent plus DT/CT) and the rest PDC winners/runners up (with a floor qualifier to make up numbers if necessary).

You would give places to JDC players

Blimey that’s a bit of a stretch

The 13 year old lad who just won the Lakeside youth title was better than half the men. Suppose it depends who wins it.

Sure I saw something saying Mandigers was off to a-school as well.

But if they add in Suzuki that would help. Think the PDC might push for her involvement to drive the game in Japan as well as being femal world champ.

In fairness the JDC players probably wouldn't qualify through the proposed qualifying event. But it would still be a good experience for them. If they did then scheduling would be tricky due to school.

No I would let anyone that has won a JDC event (or maybe end of season event) a chance to enter the qualifier as they have won an event in their field.

more worthy of a place that someone who gets a chance to qualify because they have a tour card.

Not really. Two group games at the weekend and then the final one on a Monday or Tuesday evening after school is done for the day. They arent going to be getting much further than that but if they did the next match would be a Wednesday or Thursday....again, after school.

Of course this assumes they live within 3 hours or so drive from Wolverhampton....

So Wesley Harms is in effect the BDO #1. That’s crazy.

No worse than McGeeney being #1 for significant periods of time, tbf.

Thought Harms would have had a go this year isn’t he under new management? So am I right in thinking none of the Europeans from lakeside have entered the uk qualifier so far?
