Which consequently means that there's always a couple of expected winners who just don't make it.
Got a feeling Waites/Williams will slip up.

2019 Q-School

Re: 2019 Q-School
Well yes, but it was the pinnacle of the BDO including 3 of this year's Lakeside finalists versus failed PDC players who'd lost their tour cards.DavidB wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 8:16 pm1205 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 7:55 pmThose who tried but failed:
Peter Jacques

Ritchie Edhouse
Steve Hine
Aden Kirk
Richie Burnett
Paul Rowley
John Part
Maik Langendorf
Prakash Jiwa
Lee Bryant
Scott Darbyshire
I'm sure the BDO would welcome them all with open arms.
I’m sure but that’s a worse strike ratio than the BDO players who had a go...
Wonder how a certain G.Murphy will spin that one...
Re: 2019 Q-School
I make it 40 card holders have played in the BDO Worlds at Lakeside at one point....that shows that the BDO still is a big stepping stone to the PDC..it shows they cannot hold on to players who make it that far ..and that playears are replaced in the BDO and then those replacements move on ....none of which will change..
I wonder what Jim Williams will do on Challenge Tour 1 to 4 weekend...if he plays and does really well , which I would expect him to do so , he could easily be in line to play Pro Tour 1 and 2 which would put him out of playing the BDO year and Lakeside ?

Yeah, you're right, forgot about Lamphil davies wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 11:59 pmI understand what your saying though Lam was their and has proved in the past he can make through Q school and Dan Lauby almost became the first yank to win a card. It would be good for the PDC to get an American and a few Asian card holders. Hopefully next year we may get a few more non European players come through q school but we shall have to wait and see.Duneh9617 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 11:36 pmIn all fairness, none of the prominent global players gave it a go this year, except for Portela. Harris and Jeff Smith were stupid enough to try the European one, and even failed there. None of the asian players, of whom at least asada, ilagan and malicdem would have really been in with a shout, tried this year, none of the decent australians, hardly anyone from northern america and no africans. So nobody was really expected to get one unfortunately.phil davies wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 11:09 pmThank you very much. Netherlands 20
Wales 7

Northern Ireland 5

Belgium 4
Austria 3
Spain 3
Australia 3
Ireland 2
Poland 2
Finland 1
Latvia 1
Lithuania 1
Portugal 1
Greece 1
Canada 1
South Africa 1
Also if it was purely based of tour card holders they would be able to make 12 World Cup teams then.
I also hope that all 19 of those nationalities that are represented do get teams at that event.

Dutch renaissance? Or more European Q School places?
Lithuania and Portugal have their Tour members. Labanauskas (about time) and de Sousa.

Merely playing on the ProTour doesn't disqualify you from playing BDO events, it's having a tour card that means the PDC will ban you from BDO streamed events. There was one lad who played one of the final Pro Tour weekends and even went to the Lakeside qualifiers last yeartrotter01 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 12:33 am I make it 40 card holders have played in the BDO Worlds at Lakeside at one point....that shows that the BDO still is a big stepping stone to the PDC..it shows they cannot hold on to players who make it that far ..and that playears are replaced in the BDO and then those replacements move on ....none of which will change..

Re: 2019 Q-School
Definitely more of a European feel, fewer RoW players, but Lam and Norman Jr hardly played anyway so it's not like the rest of the world has taken a step back. At least now for the RoW guys, if they don't do the ProTour, they have their own regional events now as well1205 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 1:04 amDutch renaissance? Or more European Q School places?

I'm sure that the minute you actually play a pro tour event you were always stopped from playing ranked BDO events as a non Tour card holderMensur Suljovic Fan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 3:26 amMerely playing on the ProTour doesn't disqualify you from playing BDO events, it's having a tour card that means the PDC will ban you from BDO streamed events. Plenty played the UK Open qualifiers last year, and I think it was Paul Rowley or someone like that did Players Championship and Lakeside qualifierstrotter01 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 11:11 amI'm sure that the minute you actually play a pro tour event you were always stopped from playing ranked BDO events as a non Tour card holderMensur Suljovic Fan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 3:26 amMerely playing on the ProTour doesn't disqualify you from playing BDO events, it's having a tour card that means the PDC will ban you from BDO streamed events. Not any more - all references to PDC tour cards or Pro Tour have been removed from the criteria - first thing Des did when he became Chairmantrotter01 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 11:11 amI'm sure that the minute you actually play a pro tour event you were always stopped from playing ranked BDO events as a non Tour card holderMensur Suljovic Fan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 3:26 amMerely playing on the ProTour doesn't disqualify you from playing BDO events, it's having a tour card that means the PDC will ban you from BDO streamed events. Re: 2019 Q-School
Well that has changed..the UK Open qualifiers were always a special case with no restrictions but one Pro Tour appearance ruled you out of BDO events....that's a big change then...somebody like Jim Williams could potentially top the challenge tour rankings after the first weekend and get into all the pro tours and also.play the BDO Tour as well...he could easily qualify for both World Champs come December ..

Re: 2019 Q-School
I would imagine the PDC will be aware of changes made by the BDO. I imagine the cut off will come if they play in a PDC televised event. exemptions being the UK Open and GSOD if ranking points aren't being accrued. I'd like to see Williams have a right good go at it as he has nothing to lose. Personally can't see Waites doing much on the challenger tour either and if he has a bad 1st weekend he may not bother again at all. He strikes me as someone who doesn't want to put the work in to become a full time pro and is happy with the 3 big events a year in the BDO. 10 years ago i felt he had what it takes to be a top 16 player.

Any sanctions or barring will be by the PDC. A PDC player is not allowed to appear on TV or stream for any other darts organisation.

Quite amazed that there were no 9 darters thrown at Q School this year, i'm sure there has been one in the last few years.
