Regarding Durrant, is it possible his heart isn't really in it for QS? A younger player might have that hunger, but maybe he's uncertain about the grind of the pro tour, the expectations he would be under. The tweet down but not out suggests he still very much wants the card, but as many have stated, its starting to look like an easier road for him in the BDO. Stay in his comfort zone, good job, good shot at an occasional big payday.

I’m pretty sure Steve Bunting qualified for the GSOD through Lakeside despite switching a few weeks after winning.

He did. But the Slam wasn't ranked then. If Durrant wins a card tomorrow (or Waites) and the BDO put either of them in as they did with Bunting then the question I am asking is; will the money they win in the Slam be added onto the PDC OOM since neither qualified for the event as PDC players. This is the first year this potential situation has cropped up since the Slam became ranked in 2015.

Yes because money goes on because they are tour card holders, not from how they get there.

If that is the case then it begs the question of whether it would be fair - essentially Waites and Durrant (if they win cards) would be starting their PDC careers with at least 3k guaranteed on the PDC OOM before they throw a dart - assuming both finish bottom of their group at the Slam.

It is not correct. Money for new or regained tour card holders gets zeroed.

I can't see Fanatics liking McGeeney's comment that his whole year was geared to getting a tour card....I thought his whole year would have been geared to winning Lakeside ☺....a tour card is more important then !

It would only be 3k out of probably 60k needed to stay on the tour after 2 years. You could argue it’s a bit unfair but it’s not loads

It could be £110k though, so I kind of see Murphio's point.

That being said, it's only "unfair" to those who had a tourcard in 2018. There was nothing stopping any of the new tourcard holders from attempting to qualify for Lakeside (Jamie Hughes aside of course).
