Wouldn’t be the worst decision if he did at least go to the UK based BDO events and see what happens in terms of going to other later in the season to qualify for Lakeside as if he did the tour I think he would be more than good enough not only to qualify for Lakeside but be within the seeded top 16.
It's one of those, if he scraped his way into the top 64, I'd back him to do well, but Q-School is always a tough slog, it's not the place you'd want to go if you've got any kind of doubts over your game

Shame really as he's been half-decent in the last two years, but he's said he's not confident enough on current form to come through the field. Hope he'll come back firing in 2020!
Live Darts Interview with Nicholson.

Wonder how many of the BDO big names will also change their minds over the next few days.

In fairness, can understand the decision of Jeff Smith not to travel to play the Challenge Tour. Long way to come for what is really little reward against his costs.

And he hasn’t been very good

Coming to the uk to average in the mid 80s in the challenge tour isn’t going to make much financial sense, especially when if he stays doing the American tour he could get himself a wsod event

Which he did last year. Jeff Smith is better off going Regional BDO/PDC events.

The WSOD qualifying events are not tied to the main North American tour, it's just a series of qualifiers they have just before the Las Vegas event which double up as a qualifier for the Ally Pally qualifier. Smith even played in it last year despite not playing the full CDC tour, as did Murschell who was on the ProTour. I agree though, the Challenge Tour is a hard slog for little reward but for the top 2, whereas playing on the CDC means he doesn't have to rely on a single knockout tournament to make it back to Ally Pally again

Tuesday. Seems like quite a few of the europeans are going to get their card then. Think even De Sousa is almost certain now.
