But no no, the PL will sell tickets without Barney...
your completely missing the point, and it's a 5 year old joke, but as the holder of our resident BDO troll award I guess there is no point actually having a debate about this?

Barney would be a big crowd draw for the nights in Holland that is for sure and the PL is all about bums on seats so question has to be asked is that will the PL be a sell out if Barney is not included?

Personally don't think it would make a difference to ticket sales if he was not included but I think he may well be.

It will make a difference to tv audience in Holland as well as the enjoyment of those who do go - and are then more likely to return.
Always make the product as good as it can be so people want to cone back.

Didn't two dates in Rotterdam sell out within 2 hours months ago, long before anyone knew Barney was retiring and was likely to get a free pass into it for 2019?

In an exhibition tour, why wouldn't you have a 5 time world champion?

Obviously on merit Whitlock deserves to be in ahead of Barneveld, due to recent majors, even though Simon has performed well and to a high standard, amazingly he might miss out in favour of the undeserving Dutchman.

Barney doesn't really deserve a wildcard on merit..he's 26th in the rankings minus Ally Pally money dropping off..
But because it's his last year and because of his status and what he did for the PDC after his switch I think he does deserve his farewell in a non ranking PL..we might not get to see his farewell in the Matchplay and Grand Prix.

Not great and he always seems to have fantastic matches and lose them...but he's a great player to watch and a finalist last year and is definitely on the up and I think he'll get a place.

No, no, no. It's "amazing" that a retiring 5 time world champion is getting invited to this exbo ahead of him.

No-one gets wildcards on merit. That's kind of the point of them. If the line-up was a proper meritocracy there'd be no need for wildcards.

That said, I fully agree with you about the PL being his farewell tour, and it being well deserved.
