I think a massive point here that nobody has mentioned is the money that players could potentially earn from sponsors playing in the PL as well as the money up for grabs and also possible exbo's on the day before or after that would be an earner as well, All round it may be hassle but for those at the top of the game in the position to be eligible to play in the PL but they are pro dart players and earn their crust through playing so im sure any player given the option would not want to turn it down.1205 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 2:16 pmThere are no ranking points, it adds travel and time, and for the level of players involved, the money isn't big unless the player does well in it (and plays more weeks).
So if a player thinks it's going to have a negative impact on their form or personal life it makes sense to skip it.
I think before his final and win I could see the Price skipping it (either by choice or more likely the PDC not wanting him), but Suljovic is the most obvious player to choose not to be in it.

Re: PDC Premier League 2019
No reason not to be 12 players - one extra match a night even best of 12 legs fine as the night is often done by 10:30 as it is and they can get the likes of Mensur and Whitlock in who might not qualify otherwise let alone if we have two finalists at Ally Pally who aren’t probably going to be in the PL already...
Re: PDC Premier League 2019
A limitation is that the current schedule has 9 days before the cut-off in Rotterdam. So they'd either have to move the cut-off, have an unbalanced schedule, or fit in an extra 12 games* on top of the regular 6 per day during the 9 days.DavidB wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 11:43 amNo reason not to be 12 players - one extra match a night even best of 12 legs fine as the night is often done by 10:30 as it is and they can get the likes of Mensur and Whitlock in who might not qualify otherwise let alone if we have two finalists at Ally Pally who aren’t probably going to be in the PL already...
* 2 for each player to make it up to 11
Re: PDC Premier League 2019
Every player wants to be part of the Premier league. Maybe it’s time for a second division? Tv won’t pick it up but we’ve seen none TV events, exhibitions, with massive crowds.
Re: PDC Premier League 2019
It was called the Championship League, but no one was interested in it so it was discontinued.

Re: PDC Premier League 2019
I thought they had already changed the format for 2019 so that it is now best of 14 legs instead of 12.DavidB wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 11:43 am

Re: PDC Premier League 2019
BdW is probably right but I have a feeling he won't be in the conversation he will just be there.
Re: PDC Premier League 2019
Probably time for the PDC to come up with a compromise now. Don't include him in the 10, just invite him to the Rotterdam nights to play an exbo game at the start of the night with Taylor on one of the nights, and [insert name of another player] on the other night.
Then he can waltz into the sunset and we won't see him in TV in a ranking event ever again, because at this rate has he actually qualified for one next year other than the UK Open?

Hard to disagree. Time for the PDC to grow a set of balls, unless they have done something stupid like promise him a spot if he announced he was retiring.

You got to admit it is just sports entertainment now, manipulated for publicity...........very sad.
"What a Fecking Catastrophe!!"

The seething over Barney is lovely stuff
Re: PDC Premier League 2019
IIRC PDC corporate partners have been selling hospitality and travel packages saying he’s one of the 2019 participants.Skewball wrote:Have I missed an announcement of him playing in the PL?Paddy McGinty wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 9:25 amYou got to admit it is just sports entertainment now, manipulated for publicity...........very sad.
No idea how legally binding it would be if not included could some of those who bought tickets on that basis demand a refund.
Re: PDC Premier League 2019
hes in, the player with the second most world titles (depending if you count the bdo ones) taylor had a farewell year & barney will get same, i do think on merit he shouldnt be there but the pdc owe him a send off (not as lavish as taylors was) imo for services renderedmalcy93 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 11:09 amIIRC PDC corporate partners have been selling hospitality and travel packages saying he’s one of the 2019 participants.Skewball wrote:Have I missed an announcement of him playing in the PL?Paddy McGinty wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 9:25 amYou got to admit it is just sports entertainment now, manipulated for publicity...........very sad.

Re: PDC Premier League 2019
Jacques Nieuwlaat seems to think his position is not a problem for the PL place.
Re: PDC Premier League 2019
hmm, that could make it tricky. It does all seem to add up to him being in. Oh well, its only a money making exbo so those who continue to slag it off for being 'nothing more' than that at least can't bitch and moan that he has been included. But I guess they probably will and not realise the irony of it.malcy93 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 11:09 amIIRC PDC corporate partners have been selling hospitality and travel packages saying he’s one of the 2019 participants.Skewball wrote:Have I missed an announcement of him playing in the PL?Paddy McGinty wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 9:25 amYou got to admit it is just sports entertainment now, manipulated for publicity...........very sad.

Depending on the World Cup, he could get to the Grand Slam. Could feasibly see him do enough to scrape his way into the top 32, especially if he does a few ProTours/ETsGinge wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 8:47 am Probably time for the PDC to come up with a compromise now.
