Congratulations to today’s qualifiers who all battled through tough competition to claim their place in the 2019 World Professional Championships.
First through in the Men’s qualifier was 2018 World Darts Trophy debutant Ryan Hogarth, who beat former England International ‘Superman’, Matt Clark 2 sets to 0. Hogarth was soon joined by Poland’s Krzysztof Kcuik, who took a pressurised deciding leg over 2018 World Youth Champion Justin van Tergouw, to clinch the match 2-1. England’s Nigel Heydon, who has just returned from the Europe Cup, qualified in style, winning 2 set to nil over Adam Smith-Neale, with the final qualification spot going to ‘The Hammer’, Andy Hamilton. Hamilton was one leg from defeat in the final match against Northern Ireland’s Chris Gilliland, but brought it back to win 2-1 and guarantee his spot in the 2019 World Professional Championships.
In the Women’s qualifiers, Mikuru Suzuki became the first Japanese lady to qualify for the World Professional finals, taking a collected 3-1 win over Denmark’s Line Kristiansen. Poland’s Karolina Podgórska will be joining Suzuki, as she beat the USA’s Sandy Hudson 3-1 to secure qualification spot.
In the youth, Scotland’s Nathan Girvan and England’s Leighton Bennett will face each other in the 2019 final. Girvan beat England’s Connor Arberry 3-2, whilst Bennett saw off Holland’s Levy Frauenfelder 3-0.

Darts is not only about the Top 128 in the PDC, and is great to see darts players getting opportunities to play within both codes as and when they like.

The text of the write-up for the qualifiers on the BDO website makes no mention of the word "Lakeside", I notice.
