Guessing a few of the men won’t be there. Such as the Asian qualifier. The NZ qualifier has in the passed skips events. Not sure who it is this year.

Big worm and Paddy claim to have known all the details for weeks, since their claim there have been numerous players commenting that they know nothing. Either way these Chinese whispers and delays are making them look even more amateur than I thought they were.

1. The state the previous board left the BDO in is nothing short of a disgrace.

2. If Des manages to get a multi year broadcast deal for the three majors the BDO currently run that is an achievement, given they had absolutely nothing in place when he became Chairman.

3. Assuming the broadcaster will be no-one with a greater reach than Eurosport, for example, this will just confirm a realistic view of the commercial clout of the BDO, and at least stabilise a situation that has been out of control for years.

4. If the Worlds are at Lakeside it might be for the last time, in which case the crowds may be fine if they market it as such. Otherwise I doubt they will be great. If not at Lakeside, I hope they have a good multi-year deal in place as it will be a hard sell to get people in this year.

5. Lots of ifs at the moment, and recent history doesn't fill me with confidence!
