Guessing a few of the men won’t be there. Such as the Asian qualifier. The NZ qualifier has in the passed skips events. Not sure who it is this year.
Would this bring Wes Newton in line for Lakeside?

I hope so, the lad has struggled after his problems with his shoulder. Good to see him getting back up there.

2. If Des manages to get a multi year broadcast deal for the three majors the BDO currently run that is an achievement, given they had absolutely nothing in place when he became Chairman.

3. Assuming the broadcaster will be no-one with a greater reach than Eurosport, for example, this will just confirm a realistic view of the commercial clout of the BDO, and at least stabilise a situation that has been out of control for years.

4. If the Worlds are at Lakeside it might be for the last time, in which case the crowds may be fine if they market it as such. Otherwise I doubt they will be great. If not at Lakeside, I hope they have a good multi-year deal in place as it will be a hard sell to get people in this year.

5. Lots of ifs at the moment, and recent history doesn't fill me with confidence!

I think if it's Eurosport then that would be a great result..Eurosport is a great sports channel these days...if they got a 3 year deal for the 3 events on Eurosport then fair play..

Loose the Asian market and gain Wes in Lakeside.

Looks like they have lost the Asians which is really not good in terms of marketing as this is where the BDO-WDf can get into the market.

PDC certainly did well last year with its tour. Will be interesting to see what happens next year. Do just have no fresh ideas. Haven’t had for a long time

Would Eurosport want all the darts for three years. They already have all the winter sports during Lakeside. They show football, snooker, cycling. All that could clash with events three years into the futur. I’d be surprised if a broadcaster as well known as Eurosport would bank on the BDO over the next three years. With the crowds over the other events, speculation over the Worlds venue, and the new rule could mean the majority of any tv field are basically failed entrants of q-school

Hasnt the rule change that means most of the top players will go to QS made a 3 year deal a lot less likely. No broadcaster will have any idea which if
any good or well known players withh still be there next Spring.

I doubt some broadcasters will be that worried - just filling the space on their channels. Besides, there’s no given that the main snooker and tennis players will play the events, they’ll realise that with the darts!

I'd be amazed if anybody committed themselves to a 3 year deal with the BDO at the moment given all the circumstances.. a 1 year deal for all 3 with an option for a second year would be an amazing deal at this moment in time...a 3 year deal with Eurosport for 3 events I just cannot see..

The BDO built the WDT and they turned up really well for that.

Today's the day. I can feel it. Come on Des, show the world you're not totally useless and get this thing announced.

Were they employed to gradually get the BDO down the TV channel pecking order?

If so then they are masters of their craft.
