I don't see any details about sponsorship either so the rumours weren't entirely accurate.

Eurosport would have to pay for the filming as host broadcaster, however given that is easily £0.5m+ then they aren’t going to offering much on top for the rights.

Before someone jumps in on my guess of £0.5m for filming that’s based on Sky’s known costs of £2.5m for filming the PDC WC at Ally Pally over 3 weeks. Plus that’s over Christmas and New Year so would probably cost more in staff wages / overtime / holiday working.

However being on Eurosport you would have though they could get a big name sponsor. Only problem is the most likely candidates the bookmakers won’t want to piss off the PDC and sponsor the rival, especially as virtually every big name bookmaker in the UK already sponsors something on the PDC tour.

As a BDO fan you shouldn't be laughing really, remember how much was lost on 2 of these events the last few years...

All you have to do is put a picture up of the crowd at the last Masters and the last WDT to see what the problem will be going forward...

Being honest I don’t think Des will make the same mistakes that the Williams did

TV Coverage for all 3 events for the next 3 years is an impressive step don’t you agree?

It is but as it stands there remains nobody other than Potter who is paying for 1 of them. Those milkman better be doing double shifts.

This is their longest deal since the BBC days and even they didn’t cover all 3 events. So great result.

Although it mentions only UK, Netherlands and Australia for TV, reading the press release again it does also mention Eurosport Player their online streaming so if that is made available to all their subscribers across Europe that’s a big potential audience.

It is a good base to build from yes, and a multi year deal provides stability. Next step is sponsorship and crowds, I think the latter will be an issue but if they can announce the venues quickly then they have a chance. I think getting a half decent sponsor should be easy enough but very important as with the cut that sportotal will have taken then I imagine money will be tight for a while for the BDO, getting people through the door will be so important now.

Not having a single ticket sold for Lakeside less than 70 days away from it won't help matters one bit either. Why the BDO went to great pains not to mention the word "Lakeside" in that release, yet Eurosport have elsewhere, is very odd.

You are both idiots if you thought "Lakeside" wouldn't be on telly somewhere.

Now a tv deal has been announced, how about they get the bloody wc tickets on sale? Surely there can't be any other reasons to delay doing so
