SO finally, after months of everyone on here (apart from David) saying that it was a dead cert that it would be at Lakeside, that it was literally impossible for any sane person to hold it anywhere else this year (although Pauly was hoping it wasn't but there you go) then we finally, finally, 65 odd days before the event we get the most obvious announcement of the year.

Good Lord.

That was very considerate of uncle Des to wait until today to finally make the announcements so I would win.

Given his current deals with Eurosport/Quest then I think Colin Murray would be a shoo-in as presenter.

I note also that IMG do the EFL highlights, so fingers crossed they'll be employed to carry on with Lakeside.

In comparing viewing figures BT vs Eurosport that’s not really a fair comparison as BT focuses on high rating stuff like Premier League and Champions League football or rugby. Eurosport has been successful for years going for minor sports on a cross Europe basis like winter sports and cycling. They are happy to drop sports when they become too expensive e.g. they have men’s tennis is rest of Europe but in U.K. it’s the final year with Sky and then it goes to Amazon, although they still have the Australian and French grand slams.

The positive with Eurosport is its a basic pay channel so included in virtually every pay TV package whether Sky, Virgin, BT, TalkTalk etc. So much bigger potential viewing basis than BT a premium pay channel.

Also good point that with Quest they can plug BDO Darts during their Football League highlights show so should attract an audience given early January is dead for many sports.

Quest being on Freeview and wider scale than Freesports means it will get a big retired audience as others do on weekday afternoons. My dad already watches the snooker on Quest, horse racing on ITV4 etc. So shouldn’t be too different to C4 provided people know it’s on.

As long as i can watch it somehow I'm not overly bothered how it's broadcast.
Now it's Eurosport it'll be skygo on the phone whilst wife watches some of her tat.
