I disagree with this as Paula has stated quite openly that she has qualified for 'next' years event.

Which really makes the radio silence on the event rather more baffling
The next one is next year. Qualifying for it and it actually happening are 2 different things.

Fling's bet looking stronger by the day.

"it is with regret, that due to Sporttotal......."

There's your opening line.

You can't seriously believe the event won't happen? The consequences if it didn't would be unbelievable.

The board are doing nothing out of fear of breaching their deal with Sporttotal. Like one more breach would make any difference. Or they're using the Sporttotal deal as an excuse for doing nothing.

Either way, Sporttotal are doing knack all - hence my view that the event may be cancelled is becoming more and more of a likelihood.

I cant imagine it wont go ahead in some form. That would spell the end for the Board and the entire top end of the BDO.

The real questions are location and prize fund.

The board that has just been voted in with the full backing of the owners?

Hardly a unanimous vote? Things would change quickly if they failed to organise a World Championship.

There is no way it won't be happening this time..but if no main sponsor appears it will cost a fortune ..and then what happens next year...they cannot go through that again and offer that prize fund again with no major sponsor...the long term future is surely now in doubt and why would tournaments round the world want to offer BDO points...for what ?

They are doing nothing because sportotal have straight up threatened to take them to Court in the summer over 27 breaches in the last 2 years

Any more after that threat and they have no leg to stand on

So what caveats are there in the contract should sportotal not deliver?

The issue is they will be trying to earn some money. And will be looking for a deal where they make some money.

They will have ZERO interests in pawning the rights off for free or for a token amount, but maybe this is the current market value anyway.

Anyway, Chris Mason said a deal had been agreed with someone last week, and he was right about Channel 4 dumping them.....

Has to be this week, leaving it until near November would be even more ludicrous than the current situation.

But if the BDO have NO SAY in the negotiations and Sportotal have no interest in either ticket sales or sponsorship then what incentive is there for Sportotal to hurry?
They could chase the higher dollar even if that means mid November contract signing.

Well they have over 20 years experience in maximising successful outcomes for Sports Rights holders, and Media Partners and Brands wishing to acquire sports rights to energise their brand.
What a load of guff.
