Nah this event still goes ahead imo, even if only 10 people are in the crowd.
I suspect you are right, but it will surely cost shit loads of money, which was one of the things Des said he wouldnt let happen again....
they are between a rock and a hard place without doubt.

"Despite only being voted on as BDO Chairman / CEO in August, Des Jacklin and his team, alongside Sportotal, have been working hard behind the scenes to secure a broadcasting commitment which provides the foundation for a structured long term commercial strategy and allows the organisation to plan and commit to venues and much more in advance."

I know hindsight is wonderful thing, but you re-read that passage from the press release now, and it's impossible to know where to begin with pulling it apart.

I don't disagree that we should not be going overboard with this as sponsorship, venues, prize money and ticket sales are elements still to be confirmed, but you have to start somewhere, and the tv coverage is good news.
Must be more news to follow.

Stephen Holland is happy to take the money instead, I reckon. Will this actually inject any cash into the BDO or are they on the hook for running tournaments they can't afford for three more years anyway? Better hope Des has all his promised sponsors on speed dial...
