Why not just announce it, or say nothing. They know what Facebook and the forums are like.

to be fair they have at least announced its on and the dates...that's a step forward...what they need now is an early announcement of a venue and tickets on sale...this is all good for the BDO regardless of how much money or not they may be receiving but they need to build on it...promote the events ..promote the ticket sales and get people in the venues....then they will be in a stronger position come next time they do a deal...bit let's face it , not many people though they could get a 3 year deal in their current circumstances

I honestly think it’ll be at lakeside. Think it’s a terrible move but that’s how I see it going

Would be ok, you could even have a Finders Masters type event with a group stage on the Fri/Sat then q/f's down on the Sun.

You could actually still have a 32 men straight ko event - play the 1st round on the Fri in 2 sessions, last 16 on Sat in 2 sessions and then qf/'s down on the Sun.

If you did that you'd probably have to cut the women down to 8 and play 2 x q/f's on the Sat afternoon, 2 on the Sat evening and s/f's and final on Sunday. If you have a 16 player event then you're looking at either 12 matches (with the men's matches) on the 2 x Friday sessions or a really long Sunday...

Does the press release say the masters is still in brid?

I wonder if the next plan is to get the 3 events under all one venue for the next 3 years

All 3 at Lakeside would be the safe option..and boring option...but at the moment Lakeside seems to be the only venue they can actually sell a few tickets for...creatures of habit these old BDO fans.

Surely there must be a phone box somewhere left that can hold it in ;)

If they had any sense a voucher for a free ticket should be given with ever paid for Lakeside one this year

But just remember to check your empty milk bottles by your front door for further news of this event;)

The World Master crowds were also excellent at Bridlington when on BBC!

Agreed. But back in the day the event still had a bit of gravitas and was promoted properly.

Exactly and also my point in another thread - if promoted properly and given a firm date and tv coverage is already in the book it could be great again. The event has lost a bit of kudos but could easily be rectify with the right marketing and tweaking of format (ie: all players in round one !)
