It was funny as even when it went 2'2 in sets John Rawling made the point of saying that it was NOT a lakeside classic !
Standard was very poor.

Overall the production has been good , better than I expected.

Ha, really :DDD:
Would have got a DRA fine for that.
Barry Hearn was promoting having a few beers the other day at Ally Pally.
Seems we are not allowed to actually see a beer as people get offended.

Indeed, I’ve been to Lakeside twice before and whether it’s there or elsewhere you can’t beat going live and sampling the atmosphere live!!!

Coverage was excellent, well put together and came across superb on tv as a professional production and not just a live feed as many expected.

Wolfie was excellent, Mace/Nicho/Rawling superb as usual and Nat Coombs/Georgie Bingham excellent also.

The main board camera angle was straight, the board audio was as you would expect and they quickly realised the score caption graphic needed changing early!

No worse than the same interviews on Sky with the players in the walk on area.

Does it matter that a player beaten had a pint in his hand after 11pm?? At least the interviews aren’t taking place in the players bar so that’s got to be good for the image...

Well that would depend on whether you are trying to develop your brand as a bona fide sporting one, or as one which is about your most recognisable players as being permanently on the piss.

You’re suggesting the said player is “permanently on the piss” when actually you’ve only seen him with a drink after the game at 11pm??

Given the story I heard this evening about the time he made the final in 2013, he probably has been on the piss all day. At least the darts won't be getting in the way for the next 8 days.

This is really bizarre - apparently it's better to be totally hammered for an interview straight after a match with no drink in hand than coherent and gracious with a pint in your hand. Just irrelevant to the 'brand' is how I'd put it! It is what it is - a game played in a big bar. There have been so many interviews with players from either code where alcohol has not been present but the player has made a real tit of himself, I really don't think that O'Shea was damaging anything at all.
