Vincent van der Voort recently implored PDC Chairman Barry Hearn to focus more on ranked events, rather than invitational tournaments.

The Dutch Destroyer has gone a step further, detailing his proposed adjustment to the darting calendar in a Dartsnews.com interview. Van der Voort believes that the format currently in use for the Masters could easily be adapted to make the tournament a ranking event.

van der Voort's complaint is that he isn't invited to these events. Didn't he have the same moan last year, or the year before?

To be fair, he was also critical when he was getting good results as well. And with his proposal he would still not receive an invite for the Masters next season, so it's not complaining for himself.

Totally agree with his ideas. Especially the Barney tournament being a 'very' bad idea.

He could always fek off back to the BDO, plenty of ranking events there...

Very interesting idea! I like it, many of these tournaments just lack relevance. Using a 1 year order of merit for a tournament feels really fresh.

Surely the event he wants is basically already in place - the Players Championships, unless I read it wrong.

Basicly means top-32 from this list, but then including prize money 2018 World Championship (ranking Burton DeWitt)

So he still wouldn't qualify for it.

So like I said earlier, he is not complaining to gain advantage himself. And if we talk about the idea, I think it would be an improvement for the event.

...which was created because ITV asked them to. If they are happy, the event won't be changing anytime soon.

New events will be needed in the future, but the Masters works for what it is.

VVDV says the calendar is getting full but as the world tour expands and the expectation would be for them to go ranking. The top players would stop playing the floor events all together.

Players will generally just have to make calls on what they prioritise and play in.

If Vinny doesnt like it, thankfully for him he has an alternative: he can go and ply his trade on the other tour which only has three TV events a year (four if you count one which is only on a regional Dutch TV station ), and he may not qualify for all of those either.
