A one million deal with Eurosport?
They were desperate for a tv channel to show their product, surely the tv company would have known this and got a much better deal than that.
I'll believe these numbers when I see them in the accounts. Which they won't be.

£1M/9 = £111,111.11 and less than a farthing.
It's not exactly huge per tournament.
But worth more than a million, doesn't mean "in prize money". Part of it could just be covering costs.
Given the growth of darts, and the state of the BDO finances, trying to be too cheap could be killing a golden goose.
People should have been asking whether Eurosport has an option for more years and if so, on what terms.

The Eurosport 'deal' figures will be what it would of cost the BDO to pay freesport / whoever to show their product

The Asian sponsor if they are part of the World's sponsoring then that money will be in Potters pocket

Does anyone actually know how much Winmau actually ever paid the BDO in sponsorship ? Any new deal might not have to be very high in £££ terms to be worth much more than Winmau

Good point about the relative value.

I sincerely doubt that a single penny is actually coming in for broadcasting rights.

The BDO were utterly desperate to get any coverage and had no bargaining position. Remember the debacle over even announcing the bloody venue for the World Pro?

This.

Haters, BDO hate site etc etc etc...

Oh and even if it was a million in cash rather than a million in "value", Sportotal would have taken their huge chunk of it, so bear that in mind as well. That will be at least 20% imo.

Sportotal wouldn't have negotiated a deal worth nothing in cash, as 20% of nothing is....nothing. They aren't a charity and wouldn't have done it for free.

Remember when the Deluxe thing was first posted on here, everyone brought common sense into it and then you started mocking them?

Remind us how that all worked out.

I would think Des Jacklin is a bit more credible

Perhaps. The point about the million being value rather than cash is a very good point you have already disregarded as trolling, though.

However the 'value' was , or will be received, 80% (At best) of £1m across 9 events over 3 years will not go far, certainly not for prize money. Sponsors will be desperately needed.

Lets say...

Half = "value"
Half = cash

20% off the £500k as the Sportotal fee leaves £400k. £44k per event. Doesnt scratch the surface.

Some numbers I have seen floating about Make you laugh.

Wonder who the Asian company is :-)

Do say I agree with the players not getting hotel and airfare paid for, IF they were not playing for £500 starting money.

Well if players know months in advance that a) the money is only £500, and b) there is no contribution to airfare and hotels, then they cant moan about it just before the event.
