20% off the £500k as the Sportotal fee leaves £400k. £44k per event. Doesnt scratch the surface.
But it's impossible to get sponsors without TV coverage, that secured at a profit to the BDO is a good thing. They need to get a few headline sponsors circa £75k per event and the next three years are looking good for the BDO.

Who would want to sponsor events for that sum of money for a damaged brand that has hardly anyone attending the events?

Was about to say snooker events in China get sponsors and there arent many people there, but I suppose they have millions of people watching on TV in China.

Think the battle about attendances outside of the WC has been well and truly lost, not even Des will be able to fix that one, no matter what the venue. Preston = dire. Brid = didnt use to be dire, but now is,

Ah yes, that old chestnut. You sound like IFM. How much more than £1m do you actually think it could be? ;)

Who knows. I’m only saying what I have been told by a BDO official.

They don't like it when they see the BDO making inroads, they are full of hate and would be filled with joy if the BDO disappeared forever.....

It seems as though people are forgetting just how dire the situation was for the first six months of this year. Getting anything at all was looking challenging, never mind a three-year deal with value for your three majors. As you say, this provides a platform from which to build, even if it is slow progress, it is better than the steep decline of the last three years.

Listening to that interview I do wonder if this is the last Worlds at Lakeside. No warm words about the venue, that's for sure!

They are only there this time around as they couldnt get the deal sorted on the o2 Indigo in time.

And then that raises the next issue of how many of the Lakeside faithful will follow the event into central London the week after New Year...

Needs doing at some point though, The Lakeside complex will be gone within 3 years of Potter dying, imo.

That will be one of the big announcements he's promising over the next couple of months then.

Potter is missing a trick, if he sent out emails saying it was the last ever one at Lakeside he would be shifting a hell of a lot more tickets....

Very close for me, so I'll follow it if it moves. Might even be able to get something decent to eat...

I dont have him down as an idiot, he must know the reason for the delay this time around was because they were talking to another venue.

So let's just not bother then and close it?

Like him or hate him if this is true it's a great coup for the BDO, the organisation has to forget the past and find a way to move forward, this is a start.

the big blame for preston was for me lack of promotion, with a new team supposedly in charge things should be done differently i still think mr rigby (mr preston) may become involved, bit of an ashley loves a punt on a tired product the thrill of the outcome,
