THE PDC World Series of Darts will enjoy two new destinations in 2019 as Cologne and Hamilton host the sport's top players alongside events in Las Vegas, Brisbane and Melbourne.

The World Series of Darts enjoyed a brilliant year in 2018, including a world record crowd of 20,210 fans for the German Darts Masters in Gelsenkirchen.

Next year, the tournament will revert to a two-day event and be held at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne on July 12-13, as eight top PDC players take on eight leading German aces.

That tournament will follow the US Darts Masters on July 4-5, as the sport's stars return to the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas.

The action at the Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort will begin with the North American Championship, before the two-day World Series of Darts event sees PDC stars take to the stage.

A treble-header in August will then see the stars head Down Under for events in Brisbane, Melbourne and New Zealand, where Hamilton will host a PDC tournament for the first time.

The three events will begin on August 9-10 at the BCEC with the Brisbane Darts Masters, which first welcomed the World Series of Darts in 2018.

The third staging of the Melbourne Darts Masters will then take place on August 16-17 at the Hisense Arena, before the World Series crosses the Tasman Sea to New Zealand.

Hamilton's Claudelands Arena will host the NZ Darts Masters on August 23-24, with a new destination in New Zealand following four successful years in Auckland.

The international events will be followed from November 1-3 by the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam, as 24 players contest the season-ending tournament at AFAS Live.

"Following the success of our 2018 World Series of Darts events, this is an exciting schedule for 2019 which will take the world's top players around the globe," said PDC Chief Executive Matthew Porter.

"The German Darts Masters kicked off this year's action with a world record crowd and we're expecting huge interest once again with our first event in Cologne.

"It's also great to be able to take the World Series to Hamilton, with the sport growing in popularity year-on-year in New Zealand, while established destinations in Australia and Las Vegas are a great place to see the biggest names in darts live."

Travel packages from the UK for the World Series of Darts Festival in Las Vegas will be available in due course, with information to be posted at www.pdc.tv/vegas. Ticket-only options will also be available.

Tickets for the German Darts Masters are available now through www.eventim.de/german-darts-masters.

Ticket information for the Brisbane Darts Masters and Melbourne Darts Masters will be available in due course, with fans able to register for information via www.ticketek.com.au/darts.

I think this would be the better event for Barney in his final year, rather than the Premier League.

The one in the Middle East also died a death but that was a pure money grab exbo as no local players and mainly seems to market to the expat crowd.

I agree stupid why none in Asia I thought that was a target market for PDC. Surely they would have been able to find local sponsors and promoters to have events in China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia. Pretty much any major city in Asia.

Certainly a backwards step if they dont get an event in Asia. Was only a couple of months ago Barry was talking about expansion of these events!

If I remember correctly the second year in Japan didn't sell out, with a capacity of only 1500-odd per session. Might not have been profitable enough for whoever the PDC's local promotion partner was.

...whilst gambling (and thus sponsors) is banned in the Greater China area apart from Macao.

Also, the Chinese entertainment company that's been promoting the Shanghai Darts Masters seems to have totally screwed the pooch this past year. Took on the contract to run the PDC China tour in what seemed to be a hostile takeover from the previous promoter, but then didn't actually stage any tour events. Can't imagine the PDC was happy with that, and I've also seen comments that they didn't like the way the Shanghai event ran this year either.

Seems very short-sighted if it is about money, surely these events aren't such a massive sinkhole of money that they aren't worth the risk? My uneducated guess would be that they have an Asian event in the pipeline but are changing location

Subject to being able to get the right deal for myself, my partner and our daughter, preferably with a flight from Glasgow, I am going back to Vegas for this.

Was a fantastic experience when I went in 2017, especially the 2 days of the North American qualifiers.

Looking this year to get that week in Vegas, then Cancun the next week.

If anyone on the forum is thinking of going to this, would thoroughly recommend it.

For those weighing it up, Las Vegas as a place is great, if expensive, for a few days. I'm not sure if I could handle a week or more!

Hope you can handle the heat however, I went a week after the tournament 18 months ago - it was 46C.

Depending on new job starting time/Dads health might go this year. If not possible then will definetly look to get too it in 2020.
Phil, you would love it.

First 2 days are brilliant. Was on the piss for 2 days solid from lunchtime to 9pm during the qualifiers and then out for dinner after that. Met people who will be friends for life and still keep in contact with them.

In all fairness, now that I think about it, was also on the piss for the following 2 days watching the US Masters and the WSOD event the next day.

Would love to do it but TBH given current family health issues it’s more likely to be 2020.
That's me booked up today for this for myself, my partner and my daughter. Didn't go down the PDC travel package route this time, booked flights separate and accommodation direct with the Mandalay Bay and still to sort tickets for the darts, but all in reckon we will save well over 2k on the trip.

Looking forward to meeting up with the friends I made at the 2017 North American qualifiers the 2 days before the televised events.

Flying on following the completion of the darts to Cancun for a week, so going to have a great 2 weeks.

They are predicting Anderson will drop out.
