Big difference in this match was early on. Smiths first 4 legs were punished with 2 dart outs like 72, 81, 25 etc.
Thinking of one.

Turning into a very nerve wracking match. Not by virtue of great scoring though.

Cross breaks to reach 17 legs
Been superb since 9 zip down Smith, definitely a missed opportunity.

Congrats Rob Cross 2019 Matchplay Champion.
Kudos to Smith for making it entertaining after a dreadful start.

Well done to Rob Cross for holding it together there, a couple of sessions he wasn't at the scoring races. Those first 2 sessions were so vital to the match, the fact that Rob literally was half-way there after those was a dream start and he held it together superbly at the end in the face of a crowd wanting more and Smith firing on some cyclinders.
Both ended on 95-96 averages, Rob just that bit more clinical when he needed to be.
Peter Wright will be sat at home kicking himself at how this has turned out - averaged 104 and barely a foot wrong against Gurney Friday, then has seen what would have been his next two opponents not really turn up for long spells of the 1/2 & final (Cross and then Smith), for whom he would have been way too solid for.

Totally agree with this. Cross is class and it just magnifies Gurney's petulant toddler like behaviourWizardofozFan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 9:41 pm Remarkable comeback from Rob Cross, congratulations to the man with the best walk-on tune in the game there because 1x score of over 140 in the first 20 legs of a semi-final and less than 25% on doubles should not mean you win a major semi-final of this magnitude.
Yes Gurney's scoring & doubling went off the boil to a certain extent (some of his doubling was an equalling out of the good fortune he's had this week), about the same time that he started moping about & slowing Cross down ironically, and to blame the impeccable crowd at the end was pathetic and so Gurney-like. Maybe next time they should remain silent when he comes out to Sweet Caroline - how awkward would that be!?!

Really? Been lurking for quite a long time but was put off registering by some of the shenanigans on here. Can quite happily go away again as I have no interest in being accused of being a multiple or whatever you are getting at.DavidOwen67 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:25 pmHmmmmmm.
