I havent used a cheque in years, if backwards darts organisations still want to use these then thats their problem.

Although I get the impression cash payments would be used more than cheques to pay out darts players at opens these days

They stopped using cheques here about 20 years ago now. I still get the odd UK company asking me if they can pay with a cheque.
USA is a lot worse.

Only time I ever get them now is in birthday cards, and even then I can just take a photo of the cheque and bank it that way via the banking app, and only seems to take 2 days now.

Get a pen and write that all down.

I’m surprised Dannyboy hasn’t complained about the numbers and why the Euro Tour qualifier is low

Excuse my ignorance don't really understand the pros and cons of who can play where now but is McGeeney and the BDO qualifiers allowed to play in whatever they like and under what code now. I just ask because I see he is registered to defend the Dutch Open and then probably play at Wigan the week after.

USA is a lot worse.
Aside 1:
I think a lot of the time, payment by cheque is just a delaying tactic.

Aside 2:
I live in a US state (Maine) where paying by cheque is still reasonably common. There are some small businesses where I live who are cash and check only. But this is a low-density state with the highest median age in the country (44.5). I actually use cash quite a lot because credit cards have high transaction fees, debit card uptake has been relatively slow and merchants aren't allowed to charge transaction fees so it's all invisible**. Chip and pin only came in two years ago. As older businesses (and older people) disappear and new businesses start up I suspect we'll see a bigger shift to card payments.

* check
** but government can charge service fees for credit card payment of taxes, of course

The PDC contract bars full tour members from playing in any non-PDC-sanctioned _streamed or televised_ events. So you'll occasionally see that PDC players have played in local tournaments.

The first Players event isn't until February 9th, so it could depend on the deadline for signing the contract.

So why is PDC players playing in the Dutch Open pairs suddenly a threat to the PDC.
This has happened in the past. No permission required just play.

OK it's on at the same time as the Masters but surely it is not a threat to that?
