Is there any point in Quest splashing out on BDO darts when repeats of salvage hunters can garner the same viewership at a far cheaper cost?

You assume they are actually paying a penny for it

Someone must be paying for the productions. Cameramen and vision mixers don't work for free.

My guess is it’s coming out of the bdos pockets which is why it took so long to get a deal in place.

Not going to see for a while but me thinks this amazing deal is not all it’s shaped up to be

They want to get onside with the BDO management so they will keep the contract through the good years that are about to start.

The BDO is on the up now with the 3 year TV contract and the QS results that left them with most of their big stars.

They spared no money on production, I saw at least ten cameras just pointing at the stage plus mace, nicho and Rawlings don't come cheap.
It would be interesting to know what viewing figure they had in mind and if it achieved that.

The same argument we have with Dave the other year

If you have repeats of shows getting the same numbers of live tv your never going to keep showing the live tv unless it’s not costing you anything

Unless the live TV has more people watch the adverts.

Hated the fact Des got Lakeside on the Telly, was telling or and sundry around Lincoln that he, Borespark, Skewball & Bradders have finally killed off the bdo

That makes zero sense

Des didn’t get anything on the telly

Actually Jacklins rule change that let the good players leave is what has finished off televised BDO events in the medium term.

Indeed Des specifically said that the TV was being sorted while he was on holiday. Sportotal saved the day, probably at 25% of whatever fee it was. Which was probably all pissed up the wall on production costs on the assumption that if it went well that they could get sponsors for the next events.
