Was updated on 2/2 and said Suljovic's withdrawal means Andrew Gilding gets a spot.
Next in line according to https://www.pdpa.co.uk/pdc-tours/challenge-tour-2/ it would be Jason Askew.

Well if that’s the case it will certainly make his Dad pleased he made him go to Q school :)
One more withdrawal and Andy Hamilton would get a spot!

Askew didn't enter the dopey sod, so it's either the Hammer or Diogo Portela. Diogo is saying on Twitter that he will play off against Hamilton for the right to play the weekend

Both might play yet anyway, always the chance someone might not turn up.

Is there no other count back method? And both players won £750 at exactly the same time last year?

Can’t believe the amount of players pulling out considering it’s free entry. Thought there would be a lot less people pulling out this year.

Lot of people attempted to enroll, but their entry wasn't correctly registered, hence the reason they miss out.
Furthermore there are that many tournaments nowadays that a lot of them will have to skip a few every year, which is the way a professional should be imo. Provide more opportunities than players actually can handle. A tennis player or cyclist cannot enter every single event either. They have to pick and choose, which makes it all the more interesting.

Having choice is great but there are simply too many events (Pro and Euro Tours) and it dilutes the rankings. If the free entry was designed to attract more of the top end players to events then clearly it ain’t working...

Because the "technical error" was him missing the deadline. If it genuinely was a fault with the PDPA website they'd have to let the eligible players in. Amazingly he already knows he'll be at all the other events. Probably because he knows how he cocked it up this time.

Nonsense. I keep saying, in tennis (which is a comparable sport when considering ranking structure) there are countless events which count towards the rankings. Seems to work over there, doesn't it? Making wise decisions in choosing where to play and where not to play is part of being a professional sportsman.

I’m not 100% sure about the tennis model - is it similar to golf as this what Hearn keeps comparing it to??

Anyhow, a professional sports PERSON doesn’t always have the choice especially in team sports...

Are you certain about that??

Has there not been an instance or two in the past where a player hasn’t been registered and the PDC have made comment??

I'm not Hearn, but surely free entry was made to attract players in the lower reaches to play every event, to truly make the PDC 'darts for all'? It wasn't the entry fee preventing van Gerwen from playing in every single event pre-2018, that would be relative pennies to him. Last year there were generally 5-10 tour card holders skipping events (some who missed most of the year), I'd expect there to still be a few missing in most events this year (once the 4 simpletons get to grips with the system) but still less than last year, and surely (though I'm not 100% sure on this) far less than in the distant past
