Don't understand what the difference is with Romania. Needs to be clarified this rule.
He was given permission by the PDC, simple as that really. Probably because he won his card after entering it and booking flights etc so the PDC was kind.
And he's a nobody playing in a nothing tournament in the great scheme of things. So why not.
Also, the Dutch Open is February 1-3, and the Masters is February 1-3.
The Romanian Open didn't clash with anything. Barry Hearn tweeted of John Michael playing the Romanian Open: "No harm to Pdc."

Eh? Who are you trying to whoosh here?
Nick?
Not allowed to play if it's streamed dear.
I'm risking a whoosh here....but you do realise the screenshot in the opening post was taken from the event Michael won yesterday which was streamed, yes?

Actually I didn't notice, he should be banned by the PDC now then.

For God's sake Nick keep up, he got permission to play in it.

But several big Dutch stars playing in a non-ranking pairs event in Holland is??

According to Hearn.
It's a bigger event, in a large Darts market, at a tournament on YouTube, during the PDC season, so I understand why they'd say no.
If an Asian or Australian Tour card holder wanted to play in the Korean Open or North American based tour card holder wanted to play the Las Vegas Open, id expect that to be accepted.
John Michael has entered both events in the Greek Darts Festival in March. It clashes with a Euro tour event, but I don't think it is being streamed. No sign of Mr Sparidaans
At this rate he will qualify from the East European table for the BDO Worlds!

Quite but it's a market he doesn't seem too keen on - it could benefit him if say VvDV and Klaasen got to the tv finals but there you go!
