Just a small error in your piece that I noticed, Razma qualified for ET1 via the Nordic/Baltic qualifiers that actually happened last year. That was before they announced the changes to qualifying, so he, Darius and Kantele got a second bite at the cherry at events they didn't originally qualify for

ET1 is a great opportunity for someone in the lower reaches of the rankings to make some decent money, there will be 14 players without a tour card in the field

Thank you.

So far, if you look at the players who've qualified for 2 or more events, there are very few surprises. Most of the lower ranked players are new tour card holders and/or shown good form: Evetts, Hughes, Durrant, Smith, Clemens. And, of course, Mansell.

Similarly, of the higher ranked players not qualifying for any, no surprises: Jamie Lewis, Klaasen, van de Pas, North, Dekker.

The European Tour gets under ways this weekend at the Ostermann Arena in Leverkusen.
This will be the 8th time the European Darts open has been contested. The first 5 times the event was held in the Maritim Hotel in Dusseldorf only 50km from Leverkusen.

The Ostermann Arena, formerly known as the Smidt arena is hosting the competition for the third time. Previous winners here were 'Mighty' Michael van Gerwen in 2018 and Peter 'snakebite' Wright took home the trophy in 2017.

Gerwen has won the EDO on three occasions in 2013, 2016 and 2018.

42 of the 48 participants have already been determined and the remaining slots will be played at the Host Nation and West & South Europe Qualifier on the day before the event. After the last two qualifiers the draw will take place for the EDO.

Glen Durrant, the three time lakeside champion, will be competing in his first PDC European Tour event. Also Raymond van Barneveld will be competing in his first European Tour event in almost two years after qualifying through the European Tour Card Holder Qualifiers last month.

Press Release from PDC Europe: (google translated)

Does "Barney" find its way back to its old strength at the tour opening?
March 20, 2019

Finally, the wait is over! The European Tour will start in the 2019 season at the weekend. The European Darts Open (EDO) will kick off in Leverkusen and a legend of the sport will return to the European Tour stage on Friday.

Leverkusen / Munich - After exactly 704 days, five times World Champion Raymond van Barneveld will celebrate his return on Friday evening. The 51-year-old Dutchman, who is on his farewell tour after announcing his retirement, wants to prove himself and his fans in the Ostermann-Arena that he is still able to call top performances.

"Although my achievements have not been the best in recent times, I feel in good shape," said Barney. "I'm really looking forward to my return to Germany and my fans there." The competition is strong: 47 other world-class players will fight for a total of 140,000 pounds of prize money until Sunday. Joining van Barneveld will be reigning World Champion Michael van Gerwen, BDO World Champion Glen Durrant, European Champion James Wade, Rob Cross and Peter Wright. "It is perhaps the best field ever on the tour. But I'm convinced that it will go far for me, too, if I call off my performance, "said the challenge of van Barneveld, 2012, the first winner of the European Darts Open touched.

Which four German players will be involved in the event will be decided on Thursday evening when the German qualification is played in the Ostermann Arena.

All information about the event and other European Tour tournaments can be found at pdc-europe.tv.

THE European Darts Open begins on Friday, with Raymond van Barneveld set to face Steve Beaton in the first round in Leverkusen.

The opening European Tour event of 2019 will see 48 players in action at the Ostermann Arena across the weekend, with an increased £140,000 prize fund on offer.

Friday's first round will see 32 qualifiers competing, as five-time World Champion Van Barneveld takes to the European Tour stage for the first time in almost two years against former European Tour event winner Beaton.

Round one will also see World Matchplay semi-finalist Jeffrey de Zwaan face UK Open quarter-finalist Josh Payne, while Glen Durrant will make his European Tour debut against one of Thursday evening's Host Nation Qualifiers.

The seeded players, led by 28-time European Tour event winner Van Gerwen, will enter at the second round stage on Saturday.
