I am pretty confident in saying no player from east-europe or no baltic player ever reached the quarterfinal on the eurotour before

Ratajski made the QFs of the Dutch Darts Masters in 2017.

Dennis Nilsson and Kim Viljanen have both reached an ET Quarter-Final having qualified via the Nordic/Baltic Qualifier. I can’t recall anyone reaching the semis or beyond though.

Whitlock will be very happy to show the class to take advantage of the friendly draw and bank 10 grand.

Others will be disappointed to fail to take their opportunities.

There was some surprises, like Sedláček reaching the quarter final.

This tournament's most predictable outcomes:
1) Glen Durrant losing with a good average in a close game from a break up in the last 32.
2) Darren Webster losing in the last 16. Have to give him credit for his consistency.
3) Joe Cullen losing in the quarter final with a great opportunity to progress further.
4) Rob Cross playing great for several games and then falling apart. He probably had nothing there, to be honest.
5) Simon Whitlock going further than anybody thought he would. Class is permanent, even as ability fades with age.
6) Michael van Gerwen winning the tournament. Interesting that his worst performance was against Evetts. He was probably so relieved that Clayton had gone out that he relaxed too much.

Anway, consolation for other players wanting to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts is that it's another tournament winner who's an existing qualifier.

Currently:
7 definite qualifiers: Anderson, Aspinall, van Gerwen, Gurney, Price, Smith, Van den Bergh
3 priority reserves: Schindler, Wade, Cross
0 European Tour: van Gerwen (2) and Gurney would qualify by other means
4 Players Championships: Chisnall (2), Durrant (1), Lewis (1), Clayton (1) (van Gerwen (2), Price (2), Wade (3) would qualify by other means)

Given that Wattimena is likely to be playing with van Gerwen at the World Cup there's a reasonable chance that he'll at least be a priority reserve.

There was a mistake with the draw.
Smith put in even though he withdrew over a month ago.

Will be redrawn.
