It's history repeating itself, you have to feel sorry for the players.
It's the most important event of the year.

Costs nothing to get to and stay in Belgium then does it, Des?‘The cost involved in playing a BDO event is a lot less than a PDC event, more than double for a PDC event. ‘If a player is a bit flush that month and can afford to travel to a PDC event, stay in a hotel, play the Challenge Tour then great. ‘If the following month they’ve only got £150 in their pocket then they can book into the British Open, or the British Classic, or an England Open, a Belgian Open, wherever. ‘They can play to where their budget lies.’

Poor old Phil, must be desperate for some BDO news to publish.
Re: 6th BDO World Darts Trophy 30 Aug - 1 Sep
Doubt he is bothered, probably now realises he inadvertently published a whole weeks worth of lies.

I see an old friend has commented on the BDO FB page on the North Cyprus post. Must be reading here

Would love to know where they get these flight prices from, a quick look at Birmingham on Skyscanner and you cant do it for less than £200 on those dates and thats with no checked luggage.
"Flights to Malaga less than £19" a few months ago.

Are you suggesting they're deliberately over exaggerating the Mega Cheappppness of their Ultra All Inclusive shindig?
Surely not.
And be careful with accusations like that, or you'll have some precious soul on Fanatics threatening legal action again.
Re: 6th BDO World Darts Trophy 30 Aug - 1 Sep
Will happily retract it if someone can find me a return flight from Birmingham to Cyprus for the amount quoted.
Actually, you can do it for £148 to Larnaca, however the return flight isnt direct and wont include checked bags. Also no idea if Larnaca is the best airport for the North.

5 months later and still no venues announced or the ‘several’ sponsors.
But the northern Cyprus open is doing tremendously well, more people then ever plus free fags.

Do Des/Paula benefit from helping to run this Cyprus comp, either financially or in kind ( free accomodation etc)?

Is there an issue if they did? Far as I see it, the only two issues are a) constantly using the BDO social media outlets to advertise it, to the detriment of most other events, and b) the fact they are brazenly plugging it whilst all the players only want to know whats happening about a major event 8 and a bit weeks away
