Well it is not even on the venue website so far. If the tickets are bought through the BDO, why not state that so people can book them?

alright alright

The tickets will be sold direct from them rather than our box office so keep an eye on that. Sorry we don't have any further details yet.

If it's a three year deal. They might help promote it this year.

They have booked a venue for three years for a private event.

There is no fucking 'deal' here at all.

Do they have a way of selling tickets without the need to pick up a phone?

Its easy to set up an on line booking page/form/payment gateway on your website.
Did it myself recently

They probably need to, having to ring up puts people off in this day and age, people prefer to click a few buttons.

the harder bit is making it interactive with live seat plans etc. No problem of course but takes either more time or using an external agency to run it for you - who also take a cut. Or they could use literally any of the well known on ticket sellers for a %. Just daft not using the marketing reach of the venue itself, I mean, for a so called business man Des does make some very odd choices!!

This has to be an attempt to build some sort of database of punters willing to pay to watch BDO darts for future marketing efforts.
Obviously there are much better, more efficient ways of doing that than just taking your entire ticketing operation in-house, but it's the only semi-logical explanation.

As things stand the only database Des has is one of people wanting mega-cheapppppp darting holidays in the Eastern Mediterranean basin, and there's probably not much crossover there.

Taking it in house makes it easier to give tickets away.

They really are giving up making any money from this. Just going to bus people in from Lincs for free by the looks of it!
I'm wondering if they are even going to bother trying to sell any tickets properly. Although getting people to actually turn up when they have been given free tickets is easier said than done.
I suppose they could take the huge loss this year, make it look decent on TV and then with more time sell it properly next year and by then get a half decent sponsor in place.

Next years events will be the shit or bust ones for the BDO as a commercial operation. Just have to scrape through this years as best they can.

Quick look at the KGH website shows there is an event on there listed where you cant buy tickets, and it tells you to go to a different website, so no reason why it shouldnt appear on there.
