Do you think it would be easier for him to get on his tractor if he was dead? I hadn't thought of that. Still might be able to use the block and tackle though. I was born and brought up on a farm so I will ask my father the tricks of the trade for getting morbidly obese people onto tractors. He is bound to know.fling wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 9:40 amIs it because he is alive?maninasuitcase wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 9:34 am Scott Mitchell.
Hmmmmmm. Something about him I don't like and I can't figure out what it is. He seems a Jekyll & Hyde character to me. I reckon he has a really nasty side to him. Sheer speculation mind you. Come find out he is as nice as John Part!
I hate the way Mitchell waddles around the stage like a fat penguin with a large pebble stuck up its chuff. If he moved any slower he would turn to stone.
And how does he manage to get up into the cab of his "legendary" tractor? Judging by the size of him I would say he would need a block and tackle.

a few years ago it was 78k men’s 22k woman’s in think we a long way off seeing that’s but maybe 50ks men’s 20k woman’s could happen if a sponsor found in next 12 month

They could have written to Richard Branson like the EDO did.

So the worst standard in 6 years (isnt that almost the full the history of this event?), despite the format being reduced?

What's the feeling on showing players in the crowd before they play? I prefer the illusion that they're mentally preparing backstage rather than sat in the audience. Just doesn't look right to me.

got to say cards on table one of the reasons i got back involved in arrows particularly was through talking to the forums favourite jeff jeff jeff at event city sat there next table drinking away got chatting, ok if there all pictured with pints in hand lashed up then i agree but i dont like the them & us attitude yes they are better than me but should they be locked away and just glimpsed every so often when on stage not in my view,no one interupted when players were practicing to my knowledge if you want deference & submission knowing your place at a tournament out of bounds then fine but it aint for me & i feel that the bdo being open with players just a few feet away from punters not behind a screen or in a private room is a good thing ,

Great weekend. Packed out most days and top notch darts. The BDO is well and truly on its way back to the top.
Re: 6th BDO World Darts Trophy 30 Aug - 1 Sep Blackburn
i would say a cautious optimism for sure get a headline sponsor still nothing for the worlds remember & i hope they dont go near a betting company however what sport total can pull out of hat unless the o2 / indigo can give some help & advice
Re: 6th BDO World Darts Trophy 30 Aug - 1 Sep Blackburn
Beggars cant be choosers, if a betting company is the only option they are hardly going to turn it down ffs. Remember this event (and many others in other sports) was sponsored by years by one of the worlds biggest purveyors of cancer sticks,

Yes, it was pleasing to see a BDO event fairly well attended and at a presentable venue. I recall a few years ago when they held it at Barry Town Hall or YMCA and the crowd was smaller than the one that would be at my funeral.
Random thoughts and musings on an entertaining 3 days of darts.
Performance of the tournament from me was Lisa Ashton in the final. Brilliant.
Should retire right now: Gary Robson, Paula Jacklin, Trina Gulliver MBE and Ross "The Turnip" Montgomery.
I wish I had some hair left so that I could emulate Veenstra's 1980's perm.
Really pleased for impending father Jim Williams. Seems like a good likeable young lad. He did well to concentrate with his wife long overdue. Been there myself and I certainly wouldn't have been able to apply myself to winning a prestigious darts tournament.
Mason and Rawling did a really good job and kept me entertained for 3 days solid. Thank god they forgot to post Paul Nicholson's job invite.
Perhaps Glen Durrant did get it right and the BDO are turning a corner. It certainly wasn't the car crash event it could have been.

Paula Jacklin.
Where do I start? She gives me nightmares along with Ann Widdecombe and Tracey Andrews. Andrews was the woman who stabbed her boyfriend 40+ times in 1996 and blamed it on a non existent road rage incident in the Midlands. She was released from prison in 2011 and now lives about 5 miles from me. I have this recurrent dream that I'm in Asda in Hayle and I run over her foot with my shopping trolley and she has just bought a new kitchen knife set.
Maybe it is Paula's horrendous glasses or her Gorgon like smile? I will ask my GP.
It was really odd when Anastasia played O'Brien. O'Brien did her walk on and Jacklin was all over her like a cheap suit. Ana walks on straight past Jacklin with no eye or physical contact at all. I really don't know why there is obviously issues between them. Ana portrays herself as a very pleasant young lady. I better not give my views on O'Brien and get banned already.
And when Ana was playing against Lisa, O'Brien was sat with Jacklin and they were going ballistic for Ashton. Ana only seemed to have Lorraine in her camp. Lorraine come across as a good sort as well.

I enjoyed the darts this weekend, by some distance this felt like the best WDT in terms of atmosphere and coverage. Saturday evening came across particularly well.
Sadly, I think the semis and final of the men's let the side down a bit. Both semis were very one-sided with the winner not breaking a sweat and not having to throw well then the final just seemed a bit turgid as both struggled to find some consistency.
I actually thought the practice area at the back looked quite good on telly and it was good to see a decent number of kids in. This is what BDO's market should be, families. I wouldn't dream of taking my 12 and 8 year old to a PDC event, but I absolutely would take them to an event like this. Others have said how approachable the players were all weekend and it's a chance for kids to actually watch some live darts of a, predominantly, decent standard.
All in all, this is promising from the BDO. One criticism, I may have missed it, but I didn't notice a single mention of the World Masters at The Circus Tavern. I understand having to promote the World's, but that shouldn't come at the detriment of the company's next Major.
