Just thinking about the qualifiers for this. I was thinking that the International Open weekend was the only opportunity for the BDO to add the qualifiers to an existing weekend. Maybe they will just use the ranking tables for invitations this year.

Will more players attend the qualifiers than paying spectators to the actual event?

I fear the crowd numbers will be even worse this year. If that's possible.

Was this added 5yrs back just to please the players? To try to keep them in the system? Or to add another TV major, to strengthen the bdo's position?

There must have been a reason. Whatever it was it can't be seen as a successful venture.

thus for me the best thing des could do would be the scrap this com for the time being and concentrate on the other 2 majors.

They have lost a fair few grand the last couple of years haven't they? Hard to see this years being any different.
Be interesting to see where it is being played. Hopefully the ticket count threads can be posted again.
