2018 finalist Martin Schindler has secured his spot in the 2019 PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship as one of the international qualifiers for November's event.

German youngster Schindler was the runner-up to Dimitri Van den Bergh last year, losing 6-3 in the final on stage at the Butlin's Minehead Resort as the Belgian retained the title.

However, Schindler sealed his spot in the 96-player field for this year's tournament by coming through the German qualifier alongside Christian Bunse.

Bunse was a quarter-finalist in last year's World Youth Championship, also losing to Van den Bergh, and went on to win his PDC Tour Card at the 2019 European Qualifying School.

Xiaochen Zong will compete in the World Youth Championship for the third time in four years after winning the Chinese qualifier.

Tremaine Gallagher and Jamie Rundle have qualified from Australia and Philippines' Dolreich Tongcopanon Jr is the PDC Asia qualifier for the 96-player event.

The JDC will be represented by Junior World Champion Jurjen van der Velde and European Champion Brad Phillips.

The international qualifiers are joined by players from the PDC Unicorn Development Tour Order of Merit in the field for the £60,000 World Youth Championship.

The early rounds of the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship will be held on Monday November 4 in Wigan, with a round-robin phase seeing the players split into 32 groups before each group winner progresses to the last 32.

The final will then be held on stage at the Butlin's Minehead Resort between the semi-finals and final of the Players Championship Finals on Sunday November 24.

Further European qualifying events will be held as follows:
East Europe - September 18, Budapest, Hungary. Entries via carsten.arlt@pdc-europe.tv
South Europe - October 18, Avila, Spain. Entries via dragos@180-darts.es
West Europe - October 19, Leeuwaarden, Netherlands. Entries via carsten.arlt@pdc-europe.tv

Two players from Ireland/Northern Ireland will win through a qualifier to be staged on Friday September 6 as part of the Tramore Darts Festival.

One who left Cheshire to go to Clwyd with Spud.

Undoubted talent, loads of potential. But another who needs to remember he is only 16 or 17 and rein it in a bit.

Evetts wins again, beating Ciaran Teehan 5-2 in the final of DT19.

Current standings with one event left

1. T Evetts 17400
2. L Humphries 8400
3. G Nentjes 8400
4. R Meikle 5700
5. C Teehan 5000
6. S McGuirk 4950
7. N Rafferty 4500
8. C Rydz 4350
9. J de Zwaan 3950
10. K Barry 3750

Evetts and Nentjes have 2-year cards, Humphries is top 64. Meikle could still make top 64 as he is qualified for the Worlds but at present doesn''t have a card for next year. Rydz has already won a card on the Challenge Tour.

Nentjes would probably actually be better off taking a new 2-year card and getting his existing money wiped as he hasn't won much this year, but I'm not sure if that is allowed?

Luke Humphries and Adam Gawlas will meet in the 2019 PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship final on Sunday November 24 after winning through Monday's early stages in Wigan.

The £60,000 tournament featured a 96-player field, including qualifiers from as far afield as New Zealand, Japan, China, America and Canada.

However, it was one of 2019's shooting stars who secured his place in the final as Gawlas, a 17-year-old from the Czech Republic, booked his spot in the final in Minehead.

He will take on Humphries, a two-time Development Tour champion bidding to claim the World Youth Championship title before moving full-time onto the senior circuit next year.

Gawlas defeated Dan Read and Rhys Griffin in the initial round-robin stage, before starting the knockout phase with an impressive 6-4 defeat of 2015 World Youth Champion Max Hopp.

He then beat Harry Ward and Callan Rydz both by a 6-2 scoreline, and was then a 6-3 winner against Suffolk's Ryan Meikle in their semi-final.

Humphries, meanwhile, followed up his two Development Tour wins over the weekend at the Robin Park Tennis Centre by defeating Xiaochen Zong and Keelan Kay in the group stage.

He then edged out former World Youth Championship finalist Berry van Peer 6-5 in the last 32 before seeing off two other Dutch youngsters - Niels Zonneveld and Jeffrey de Zwaan - to reach the semi-finals.

There, Humphries overcame fast-emerging Irish teenager Keane Barry 6-2 to ensure his place in the final.

Gawlas has already reached the JDC's Junior World Championship final - where he will take on Barry - in December, and could still secure a place in the 2019/2020 William Hill World Darts Championship should he defeat Humphries in the final.

A £10,000 top prize is also on offer for the eventual World Youth Champion - who will succeed 2017 and 2018 winner Dimitri Van den Bergh - while both Humphries and Gawlas have now qualified for the 2020 Grand Slam of Darts.

The World Youth Championship final will take place on Sunday November 24 in Minehead between the semi-finals and final of the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals.

If you are going to call it a Youth final then that makes sense.. Otherwise it's the World Development Tour Final which has no ring to it as far as TV goes..
