Disappointing to see the likes of Switzerland and Italy retaining spots and Latvia and Lithuania both being ommited. Yes they don’t have decent 2nd players but they do have players on the tour that are known.mik252 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 7:01 am Competing nations have been confirmed. Agreed, I really think Lithuania, Latvia and Portugal should have been included as they have tour card holders. I’m sure they’d probably be more competitive than the likes of Switzerland and Italy. The Jolly Man wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 8:19 amDisappointing to see the likes of Switzerland and Italy retaining spots and Latvia and Lithuania both being ommited. Re: 2019 PDC World Cup of Darts
Razma isn't keen on playing at the World Cup, he's got a young family and wants to spend his time with them (incidentally, that's the reason why Switzerland were introduced in the first place two years). Would have preferred Lithuania or Portugal to them, but in fairness the Swiss put up a decent effort last year, that's probably saved them. Excited about the Philippines, not many countries have two players as strong as Ilagan and Malicdem, and even if it is Christian Perez instead of one of those two, he's not a bad player by any stretch

Think Ilagan (and Asada) said they were thinking about Q-School in 2020, though you never know how realistic it is for the guys from Asia to go over to Europe full time. Asada I know earns a very solid whack dominating his soft-tip circuitphil davies wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 1:36 am Phillapines are gunna be the non seed to avoid along with Poland. Italian team confirmed as well, Andrea Micheletti and Stefano Tomassetti. Those two shouldn't be too bad, there'll be worse teams for sure

Re: 2019 PDC World Cup of Darts
BETVICTOR, one of Europe’s leading online gambling companies, has been unveiled as the title sponsor of the 2019 BetVictor World Cup of Darts.
With a long-standing association with the PDC most recently as title sponsor of the 2019 Masters, BetVictor will now support the multi-nation, Sky Sports-televised event this June.
2019 sees the BetVictor World Cup of Darts return to Hamburg for a first appearance at the Barclaycard Arena, where 32 nations will compete from June 6-9 for the title and a top prize of £70,000.
"It's fantastic to welcome BetVictor as our new title sponsors for the World Cup of Darts," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
"This event has grown in stature every year since being introduced in 2010 and provides a unique experience for darting enthusiasts, as players throw aside personal rivalries to team up for their country.
"The mixture of Doubles and Singles matches across the weekend also makes for a thrilling tournament, and it should be a brilliant four days in June."
Director of Sportsbook at BetVictor, Matt Scarrott said: “We’re very pleased to be collaborating with the PDC once again.
“We’ve previously partnered with them on a number of tournaments which were all very successful so I am confident that the 2019 BetVictor World Cup of Darts will be another exciting event – definitely one to watch!”
Reigning champions Netherlands will attempt to defend their title in June, bidding alongside England to claim a fifth World Cup title - the two nations are the only previous champions in eight stagings of the event.
The 32 nations for this year's tournament will also include the Philippines, who return to the event for the first time since 2016 to replace Thailand.
Tickets for the BetVictor World Cup of Darts are available through PDC Europe.

There's also Germany, Spain, and Japan with decent pairings. Asada and Muramatsu are 2 and 6 on the Asian Tour, while Ilagan and Malicdem are 3 and 5.phil davies wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 1:36 am Phillapines are gunna be the non seed to avoid along with Poland. The Polish are quite good together as well. And Russia is always dangerous.1205 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 1:32 pmThere's also Germany, Spain, and Japan with decent pairings. New member of the Russian team this year, Oreshkin has packed up darts according to Nicho (didn't even try to qualify for Ally Pally last year which surprised me a bit). This guy is unassailable at the top of the EADC rankings now:Duneh9617 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 3:50 pmThe Polish are quite good together as well. Germany could end up being seeded, it's tight between them and Austria. Austria is a weird one, Suljovic and Lerchbacher really didn't gel last year, Suljovic did well but Lerchbacher had a shocker and Suljovic didn't take too well to it1205 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 1:32 pmThere's also Germany, Spain, and Japan with decent pairings. I remember how annoyed Suljovic looked during that loss.Mensur Suljovic Fan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 4:13 pmGermany could end up being seeded, it's tight between them and Austria. I don't think there's going to be enough of a change in rankings to allow Germany to overtake Austria. Lerchbacher could drop 2 or 3 places but it'd take some deep runs by Hopp or Schindler, to shift their rankings enough, and neither of them seems like they'll be able to do that.

As long as Wattimena joins MvG it's alright by me.

This event increases in quality year on year.
For me, it shows the development of darts worldwide within the PDC structure.
Surely it is only a matter of time before we have a winner of the event outside Netherlands and England.
