Haven't watched much of this until this evening. Been a great watch - very pleasant surprise tbh. Have to say I've been impressed with Ireland and think they might do it - let's see

Think it might be 3. Snakebite not previously qualified and although Willie won a PC, dont think that would have been enough come the end of the qualifying.

Have to say think this has been a fantastic event. Shocks and quality darts aplenty.

Republic of Ireland have been brilliant, as have Scotland and the two best teams are contesting the final.

Clearly am supporting Scotland, but in all fairness would not begrudge O'Connor and Lennon winning, should they continue playing this well.

Well played Scotland.Thought Snakebite was absolutely brilliant, and Gary played great following his rest.

Just goes to show that when Peter sticks to a set of darts which he has had proven results with, he is a world class player.

What a flipping fantastic tournament yet again the World Cup has proven to be! Easily the most entertaining PDC event since March's UK Open, from start to finish.

The Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg a wise choice & played in front of more fans than ever before, even for Thursday's 1st round. Surprises but not shocks from Canada, New Zealand & Japan all winning their 1st & 2nd round contests, the retirement of Magnus Caris, respectful yet consistently atmospheric crowd, and magnificent performances from Willie O'Connor, Steve Lennon, the returning Gary Anderson & return to TV form for Snakey.

Chuffed to bits for Gary & Peter, they have deserved this title so much over the last 3/4 years, finally they've done it & dove-tailed perfectly as a team, they are possibly closer now than ever before, and it's shown in their displays this week. Class acts all round and nice to see no silly nonsense up on the stage all week, just good banter, good darts & a great result at the end of it.

Roll onto the best event of the year in 6 weeks .... the Matchplay in Blackpool!

Yes, Wright now guaranteed, currently in 7th, Lennon and O'Connor get the lowest priority spots of the TV qualifiers, in 12th and 13th. O'Connor was previously 17th, by position on the OOM.
Now:
14 White (ET6, ET7)
15 Chisnall (PC2, PC7)
16 Durrant (PC4, PC15)
17 Clayton (PC10)
18 Lewis (PC8)
19 de Zwaan (PC14)
20 Ward (PC16)

Durrant is currently vulnerable to ET wins or TV wins or runner-up or by any not above him, and to Clayton, Lewis or de Zwaan winning another PC, due to Durrant's low ranking. All the upsets in this years World Cup have really weakened his position.

White's 2 ET wins and ranking make him very safe, while Chisnall's OOM ranking puts him in a good position.

So Clayton, Lewis, de Zwaan and Ward first for the drop if we see any more unusual results.

Already missing out.

8 BDO and 16 PDC through results (so Durrant now 1st for the drop).

8 through the one-off PDC qualifying comp is it not?

No Chris. Maximum of 16 spots available via the qualification table. The remaining 16 spots are split between the BDO and the PDC Qualifier.

PETER WRIGHT believes his BetVictor World Cup of Darts triumph alongside Gary Anderson can be the springboard to a flurry of titles in 2019.

Wright, who prior to Sunday night last tasted glory on a TV stage at the Melbourne Darts Masters in August 2018, picked up his first PDC crown of the year alongside Anderson in Hamburg with a 3-1 victory over Republic of Ireland in the final.

The world number five is now looking to add to his haul of 23 PDC titles, with European Tour events in Copenhagen and Prague in June before July's World Matchplay.

"This could definitely kick-start my year, I want more titles now," said Wright, who sealed the World Cup with victory over Steve Lennon.

"I came close a couple of weeks ago on the European Tour but Ian White beat me, so I'll be out to go all the way next time I get to a final.

"At the World Matchplay Gary will be defending that trophy and he'll be hard to beat.

"I'm going to try and stick with this set of darts and maybe I'll have a chance against him.

"It's about time we won the World Cup, we're both quality players and we should've won it ages ago but that's gone and we've won it now.

"We clicked this year and going forward we want to keep on winning it!"

Wright will return to action at the Danish Darts Open in Copenhagen from June 14-16, with action shown on video.pdc.tv.
