I serioulsy don't care about the Grand Slam, it isn't a cross code event it is a PDC event, they run it, they fund it, they make the rules. The BDO gets nothing from this event, however the PDC get a great deal as promoting it as a cross code event, becuase it can be promoted as something different from the other events they run, which are virtually same as same as.
Yes 8 players get a payday, great news for them, no payday for the BDO, and the PDC can manipulate the entry criteria to suit what day it is today.
As far as I am aware the BDO have had no contact from the PDC on whether they want the BDO to nominate any players at all, never mind whether some posters want a lady to be included and the conflict that would cause amongst BDO players again.
If ever you wonder how and why the EDO BDO fail miserably on every level this post is exactly why

Erm yes it is Tommy.
It is an event which features both codes.
Same as the World Darts Trophy when only 5 PDC players were invited.

should give it to Bennett instead.
PDC minimum age is 16. They might be able to make an exception if he were a BDO major winner or something, but he isn't. Yet. (A couple of semi-finals and last 16s already).
Won our local weekly knockout on Wednesday, beating a tour card holder and a challenge tour player on the way.

For someone who seriously doesn't care about the Grand Slam, he seems to have an awful lot of strongly held opinions about it.

It's good to see that Glen is still considered as a BDO player, is the tide starting to turn?

Well this just got interesting. Glenn now qualified for the Grand Slam by right as a PDC player. If he was to enter as part of the BDO lads he wouldn't be entitled to ranking money- as per his own comments. So surely he will want to enter as a PDC qualifier and get the ranking dosh.

He's now in 13th. Of the top players Wright and Suljovic aren't yet qualified. Still plenty of European Tour events to go. Also, if any of the current 1-event PC winners (Clayton, Lewis, O'Connor, de Zwaan) win another, they'll go back ahead of him. Since more of the top players tend to skip later in the year, there are greater chances for mid-level players to win.

Although this win has made a big difference, he's not yet safe.

He could also be pushed down further by the World Cup finalists. As they rank in the TV section.

The one who could most benefit there is Wattimena being paired with MvG, so if an in form MvG turns up could be as with Barnie in the past they are dragged through to the finals.

You also have Clayton and Wright not yet qualified amongst the top seeds. They are both in same half of draw so one of them may well get to final.

Then you also need to remember that ET wins outrank any PC wins in the table. There’s a big chance of a left field winner at Copenhagen in a month as isn’t MvG missing that one.

Bad result for Durrant at the World Cup tonight with a Scotland v Ireland final.

So that’s two more above him in the qualifying places ?

Where does that put him in the rankings now ? Must be close to the 16th place. Looks like this year you may need a ET win to qualify as none of the PC only winners would get a top 16 place.

Does anyone have the full Slam qualifying list to date. Doesn’t seem to be published here any more. We need armchairfan back. His stats was the reason I came here.

Checked on Wikipedia. Durrant is now in 16th and Final place in the qualifying.
We now have 13 from the major TV event winners.
Then it’s White with his 2 ET wins.
15th is Chisnall who has 2 PC wins same as Durrant but better OOM ranking.

So looks like Durrant will need the ET win or better.

Next ET event in Copenhagen has MvG skipping it, so big event for a non qualified player to win.

With the greatest of respect Armchairfan retired from forums almost 2 years ago. He was a loss, however Burton DeWitt, Ochepedia, TheRedBit180, Premiumdartdata, amongst other statisticians all gave their blessing to us using their data on the forum, and thanks to these guys we have kept the forum up to date on all stats and qualification tables.

On a personal basis, have huge respect for the time and effort these stats guys put in to produce the data they do, and think we should all recognise the value their output delivers to our forum.

The Wikipedia page for the 2019 Grand Slam of Darts lists the qualifying tournaments and positions in order, explains the tie-breakers, and shows the guaranteed qualifiers. Easy to figure out the rest who're in at the moment.
