Re: PDC Premier League 2020
Price playing brilliantly, but wtf is Snakebite doing changing his darts. This set up looks horrible, as does his play with them.

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
I think Peter Wright just changes his darts now as its part of his "character"... Different hair.. Different outfit... Different darts.. What a "character"... Does it because its supposedly expected of him..
Well the constant dart changes has become pretty boring and tedious to be fair and makes a mockery of the event when his form can change so much because of it..

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
When Wright was changing his set up constantly before he won the worlds he got a huge amount of criticism for it. But ultimately it helped him win the biggest prize.
People thought Taylor was crazy for doing the same back in 08. Which then led to a few years of him playing the best darts the game has ever seen imo.
I have respect for people who continue to try and better themselves and it makes perfect sense to me to try new things in this tournie.

One person I don’t think changing darts helped was Bunting

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
I do agree that Peter was constantly changing his darts in an effort to better his game. He finally won the WC and was playing phenomenally well with this new set, but for me with only just over a week left until the UK Open, consolidation with the WC darts would have been better. Pretty sure he will go back to them for Minehead, but if he does not, has no chance of winning his 2nd UK Open.Rout wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 5:00 pm When Wright was changing his set up constantly before he won the worlds he got a huge amount of criticism for it. Different for those that have changed darts, by moving to a new manufacturer for purely commercial reasons. Taylor, Barney and Lewis were never the same players since moving from Unicorn to Target, and don't get me started on the damage Bunting done to his game with his switch.
In fairness think both Durrant and Chisnall have moved suppliers with no harm done to their games, and whist it is still too early to judge Michael's change of equipment, looks like he has adjusted pretty seamlessly.

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
It makes more sense to me to do it on your own terms rather than for sponsorship reasons. If you change purely because a company is offering you more money, in some ways you deserve to fail as your motivation wasnt based on seeking improvement, its greed.
Plenty of examples of people who have gone backwards from making changes alongside Bunting. Dudbridge totally ruined his game for example too after being tipped as a future world champion. But that's why those that do it and succeed deserve respect.

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
I have no problem with people tinkering with their darts as its good to try and find that little extra and it can really work..
In Wright's case though I just feel its done a lot for publicity and because it's expected of him rather than just to improve... There is no doubt he had a good set up at Ally Pally though at the end of it all.

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
You may be correct but I think when you've been playing darts as long as Wright has, its perhaps more about keeping yourself motivated. It can be mind numbingly boring to practice the amount required and I think it keeps him interested to keep trying to add an extra percent here and there.

That's probably true to be fair.Rout wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 7:23 pm You may be correct but I think when you've been playing darts as long as Wright has, its perhaps more about keeping yourself motivated. Was Wright definitely using different darts? From the highlights they look the same...

They looked different to me. That being said I am normally watching the darts in HD on the tv, but had the Celtic game on, so was watching the darts on my laptop.
