Re: PDC Premier League 2020
So with just one tournament left until the new Premier League season, who do we think will be taking part?
Personally, I think the following seven players are safe, having reached at least one TV ranking major final each (amongst other achievements of course):
Michael van Gerwen
Rob Cross
Gerwyn Price
Michael Smith
Nathan Aspinall
Peter Wright
Dave Chisnall
Despite not having amazing seasons, I would be surprised if Gary Anderson and Daryl Gurney were left out, given both their ranking and following.
So that would leave one spot for someone to grab off the back of a big run at Ally Pally. If that doesn’t happen, I think it’s between Durrant, Wade and Ian White given decent enough seasons and current rankings, with Durrant probably the favourite as it stands.

MvG
Price
Cross
Smith
Anderson
Gurney
Wright
Chizzy
Aspinall
Durrant
Maybe Gurney isn't entirely safe, but it would take someone like Wade or Mensur going on a long long run at Ally Pally to knock him out imo

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
White will never be picked. Too old and boring. You can find a rant on this he gave to Live Darts at the Matchroom fishing event earlier in the year.
They may go the contenders route again. This was championed by Harrington although Hearn isn’t keen.
Otherwise agree it’s probably Durrant for a Sky wildcard as Barney out of the equation. They can market as 3x Lakeside champion. Also didn’t Bunting get a PL invite after 1 year in PDC but never again as his ranking had stalled in the mid to high teens.

White, Same age as durrant and not anywhere close to being as boring as durrant.

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
Wade has banked over 340k prize money this year, even if he bombs first round he should be in the 10 for the PL, he must be top 5 on season earnings?

Which is correct? I may be thick and missed the obvious.

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
Plus if this is from 1st January presume it includes payout from the 18-19 WC which is the end of last season and shouldn’t be in this year’s money as that end with the 19-20 WC.
Re: PDC Premier League 2020
either way, remove the '19 WC cash and use the tourney prizemoney earnings this year, not just ranking, and he would surely be higher?
Re: PDC Premier League 2020
People said Terry Jenkins was too boring for the Premier League before he was picked. . and he was in it for years and was highly popular
White is no more boring than many.. No more boring than Cross, Wade, Durrant, Gurney.. At the moment his TV results are not good enough to get a wildcard spot but if he won something or started making some finals then he would get in

Re: PDC Premier League 2020
Given the current position of the post Worlds OOM, the Top 4 automatically qualified are likely to be MVG, Price, Cross and Smith.
Ando, Wright and Gurney will in all likelihood also be there, and think Sky will definitely want Durrant there as one of their picks.
For me it should be Aspinall and Chisnall for the last 2 places, but would not argue if a case was made for Wade.
Anyway, if it is 10 players, it will definitely be 10 out of this 11, unless we have a surprise winner at Ally Pally.

Haven't they always put a major/tv winner in it ? So that guarantees Aspinal?

Yes, but I said after all the good players left, he would have cleaned up the way duzza did. In 2009 there was still some quality players at the worlds. Look at the fucking dross that fills it up the last few years. Every year It gets worse.Popeye Doyle wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 6:40 pmIan White has played BDO, competing at the Lakeside in 2009!!TheSandman wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 11:34 amWhite, Same age as durrant and not anywhere close to being as boring as durrant.
