The event had genuine needle and genuine rivalry.. The BDO representation today is so weak in comparison to years gone by that it does take a lot of shine off the event... and the BDO ranking system doesn't help as well.. That's a mess..

I would keep the event though.. I'd include Euro Tour winners as qualifiers but I still think there is a place for the BDO in this but its a shadow of its past as a genuine cross code rivalry because there isn't any genuine cross code rivalry any more.
For me I’d make it an actual champions of champions event

All 3 world champions
All pdc major winners
Bdo masters and wdt winner
Challenge tour number 1
Youth winner
Euro tour winners

Then if your not at 30 go to pro tour winners and wsod winners

Then a completely open qualifier for 2 spots

95% of the forum plus players believes the gsod selection criteria is massively floored... out of all the options I’ve seen I like the above, BDO maximum of 4 players and move Euro winners above runner up positions, in addition to the above include development tour number 1 (replace youth runner up) and overall floor player number 1.
Another change I’d like to see... if reducing BDO to 4, I would prefer to see seeding based on most important PDC major down (world champ, matchplay, grand slam, Grand Prix, premier league, uk open, European, players, being pot 1), BDO in pot 4 ( its a PDC ranking even and include Qualifier winner in pot 4, if more than 4 then into pot 3)

Jim Williams showing here that he is the best player in the BDO at present and should easily be the favourite at the 02 in January in my opinion.

Well done Jim Williams.

Halloween was last week but it’s been a fucking horror show for the BDO till Williams became the first BDO player to win a game!

13-2

Nah, like most of them he's hit and miss. Could be anybody! Still, glad he showed at least some of what he's capable of.

Looking at the stream this weekend, the best BDO darts has been played on the other side of the Irish Sea!

It’s great he’s found his level, will make a decent player on the challenge tour.

fraggles on here thought he would qualify from the group. As I’ve said, he’s the worst BDO #1 in history.
Stuart Kellet?
Thinking of one.

Kellet was a major runner up when there was still some top end talent in the BDO, the glove wearing Dutch cunt is still worse than Kellett who is probably number 2.

Van Den Bergh comes across well imo. Suzuki played decent again. It's only the 2 lady who offer anything from the amateurs

It's good to see this comp still creates so much interest on here though.

This tournament needs a major revamp. I’d agree with the post above on a new format. Euro Tour winners need to be in there, and 4 BDO players max - they add nothing to the event anyone and the quality isn’t there from them.

For me, if you don’t want to take major winners as the criteria to qualify, I’d go with...

Top 24 in the PDC
Top 6 in the BDO
TOP 2 in the Women BDO

All based on a 1 year ranking system.

Think it's just to have a laugh at the Mushrooms defending their top guns even though getting steam rollered. Miss JC on threads like these.

For whatever reason it creates a lot of users logging on and it's good for the forum.

tbf him being put on pre mod whilst the crud from defunct df spammed away seemed harsh. Agree in part about the interest in this tourney and the intrigue with masters, false names and redraws. Rucks in Barbados. Leaving Bobs luxury hotel, 02 ticket shenanigans. General chaos has had me hooked last few month .The BDO is must see entertainment unfortunately not for the darts thrown under it's banner
