Top 17-32 and top 16 BDO in the last 48 in a round robin.
Then last 32 you introduce the top 16 PDC.

You need to take off the maroon tinted glasses, it’s been a fucking bloodbath. If it was a boxing match the towel would have been thrown in.

No one wants to see more BDO players stinking up the stage, even the BDO fanatics don’t want to pay money to see the top 16 BDO players in any tv tourney.

Why not throw in some random names made up by Des whilst you're at it?

Are you being serious? The Top 4 are there currently arent they and look what has happened. There is absolutely zero logical argument to say INCREASE their places from 8 to anything else, tbh.
Id say this weekened has shown that the BDO rankings shouldnt be used at all. 4 of the top 5 ranked players have yet to win a game.

Should be just 4 BDO players. Both world Champions, World Master and WDT winner, if one player wins all 3 then tough shit.

The problem with this event, on both sides, is the random shoehorned players in this. World Cup of Darts runner ups, Youth runner up, WSOD runners up. Its ridiculous euro tour winners are not picked over these

Hardly. Ashton took 2 legs off the PDC number 7 and Suzuki took 3 legs off the PDC number 5 ffs. Warren and Harms unlucky not to be in the mix still. Veenstra and Parletti haven't turned up, but darts is all on the day. Williams smashed a PDC stalwart and took 2 legs off apparently the best player in the world. Duzza is Duzza.

A successful tournament for 4 players, 2 can count themselves unlucky and 2 know they can perform better.

You shouldn't really expect all the BDO players to win a game, since it's weak, but yes, using the rankings is the wrong way to go since their ranking system is far too flat, rewarding consistency over exceptional performances, and not having enough emphasis on major performance.
