2017 Grand Slam runner-up Wright has joined Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Dimitri Van den Bergh, Nathan Aspinall, Daryl Gurney, Gary Anderson, Michael Smith and Rob Cross in the guaranteed qualification places.

Still don't like it that 8 out of 24 players from the PDC are random qualifiers.
I prefer to fill it with the ET and PC winners.

In fairness Erwin, think the vast majority of our membership are in complete agreement with you. I understand the necessity of the qualifier as the Grand Slam is now a ranking PDC event, but no reason why it should not be restricted to 2 or a maximum or 4 coming from the qualifier. It is crazy that in an event designed for the winners of events to qualify, that there could conceivably be multiple event winners who dont make it through.

You can still theoretically get 6 new finalists from the other three TV events.

So would need 4 of those 6 not already qualified to knock him out.

Unlikely but could happen.

Probably good to get the kid up there, so everyone can see with their own eyes how annoying he is and can start to hate him from an early age.

well whoever is in spots 7 and 8 in the mens table are going to be gutted but that's life I guess.

Re Glen: considering there is a good chance every BDO WC winner (nearly typed lakeside there!) will now switch and the BDo not putting them in the GSOD I reckon hearn will 'make' them give the winner a slot.

From the interview with Hearn is was implied BDO has carte blanche with their 'loaned' spots this time.

What are the chances if you don't follow Barry's advice on the selection that the next time you might not get one ?

THREE months remain before the 2019 Grand Slam of Darts begins at Wolverhampton's Aldersley Leisure Village.

This year's Grand Slam of Darts will be held from November 9-17, with tickets available now from both SeeTickets and the Midland Box Office.

Places are still up for grabs in the 32-player tournament, with four PDC televised events remaining ahead of the cut-off in early November.

Rob Cross' win over Michael Smith in the World Matchplay final recently meant that no new qualifiers came from the Blackpool event.

However, the finalists of the World Grand Prix, Champions League of Darts, European Championship and World Series of Darts Finals can still secure a coveted Wolverhampton spot.

European Tour victories for Dave Chisnall and Jamie Hughes have seen them take provisional qualifying places, although they could still be edged out by any new TV finalists.

Alongside the 16 PDC qualifiers from the list below, eight players will come from the PDC qualifier on November 4 in Wigan, while the BDO will also provide eight representatives in the field.

Broadcast live on Sky Sports, the nine days of action will initially see the 32 players split into eight groups of four for the round-robin phase, with all players competing on both Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are now on General Sale from SeeTickets and the Midland Box Office or by calling 0870 320 7000.
